Aftermarket Ecu Install On Xr6t

No I havent done the install yet.

The owner is sourcing new engine parts to repair the damage that occured when it was previously tuned by another tuner.

Did you install the SM4 on your car.

Did you have to modify the sensor teeth to work with SM4.

Yes it is a BA.

Not so far my turbo van had a stuck valve and a crack through its head so its received all the priority at the moment. Tuning tomorrow if all goes to plan.

All the parts have arrived except I havn't purchased my M & W CDI unit yet so as soon as I purchase that I will start.

Check back in a couple of weeks and see how much hair I have left on my head.

Aftermarket ECU is the way to go when then engine has been modified way past the factory parameters. I use to fit and tune Microtech. Not as advanced as Motech and Autronic in respect to closed loop etc. but when you can live tune you spend 45min or so on the dyno and the car is sorted. Also the factory ECU isn't capable of correctly managing boost pressures of 20psi+. Hence an aftermarket with 3bar map is ideal. Good luck with your project supercharged88!

Sorry if im dumbing down this thread, but im about to go through the process of chosing an aftermarket ECU.

How much should I be budgeting? My car is an FG and we will be chasing 600rwkw.

Will I keep my current dash functions or just go to a digital dash?

Ive spoken to alot of people about aftermarket ECU's in the last week. Spoke to Motec and it looks like it wont work the auto box. That's the same with ViPEC. Looked into a Haltec system which ticked most of the boxes except fly by wire!!! That and my tuner isnt the biggest fan of Haltec.

Im starting to think im kidding myself trying to get over 500rwkw with the auto box.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have piggybacked on older falcons but not the B or F series

You just piggyback fuel/ ignition/ cams etc and let the original computer do the rest. The auto should change as normal, you may have to double up on some sensors like the air temp and water temp but the TPS should not need duplication.

You can just start by piggybacking fuel then once you have that sorted start doing the others

On E series cars I can exceed stock drivability and even stock cold starts but it takes alot of work and touching up of the map which can only happen when you are driving around and adjusting bit by bit.

A tuner who just has it on the dyno and drives around the block for 45min cant do it. It takes alot of touching up over different whether conditions to get good drivability and startup.

No ECU system will do the 6sp auto
