hi guys.

Got an 04 BA XR6 t which the wife drives around mostly as I do fly in fly out work. Im wanting to get a little more poke out of her for when Im home as was wondering if there was much point just buying the capa box and using the generic tune that comes with??

The car is due for a service so was thinking I could also book it in somewhere in perth and get a proper tune at the same time if the generic tune is a waste of time...

What ya think??

Your probly good with getting first stage mods (CAI+Injectors+XCAL+Monza/F6 Cooler with that you will have roughly 270+rwkw with a good custom tune. Generic tunes are dodgy, known to misfire no tuner will support generic tunes.

Yeah its worth it. Depends which shop you go to as well, some 'generic' tunes are less generic than others, and they're the better for it (usually backed off a bit to keep it safer)....

It'll tighten her up a bit and give her noticeably more poke. The BA in stock trim is a little 'subtle' Im sure you'd agree.

Then wait a bit til you're convinced and get the custom tune.

You can get a few more kws with a nice tune and get some more fuel economy too.. Not a waste of time in my opinion.

It's no longer a 'CAPA' box....

If it's being sold to you as such reconsider your options although it will work with your car your better off going with the newer boxes that are now available.

Is a tune only worth doing? yes!

speaking from experience I had a custom tune only done a few years ago and picked up 40rwkw and a sh*tload more torque down low. As much as everybody around here goes on about hitting the 300rwkw mark a T with 250ish rwkw (ie tune only) is still a f*cking quick car!

Is it worth risking it on a generic tune? no! do it once and do it properly!

Ok cheers guys. Ill take your advice and get a custom tune as well :)

Should I Buy the tuning box through a workshop over here or am I better off getting it somewhere else?? If so where is good for both box and tuning in perth?

It is worth it!

If you still want to stock for your wife to drive. Then you'll have to get just a tune done or if you get the injectors etc you'll need a custom tune that makes about stock power.

Talk to Simon from Xtreme Ford Tuning for all your needs.
