hey mate this was happening to me. im goin to replace alt. but I do have a slow power steer leak in the metal pipe above the alt but my radio turned off the light dimmed out n just died I did get abs light though

This issue is very common with BA's dont know about BF's however, if the Power Steering High pressure hose and return lines arent changed then the alternator will sh*t itself from fluid drippind onto it.

Changing the whole lines is the only way out as replacing the rubber o ring on the screw on bolt will NOT fix the leak. The Power steering High Pressure hose/return lines inc the attached metal lines/bolt can be purchased from the wreckers but its best to get a genuine replacement one from Ford.

Hi Varaitch, and thanks for the reply but I fixed the PS leak by seperating the HP hose from the screw on bolt and snapped the HP hose into a new bolt, $10.00 all up. its my alternator that's screwed. I fixed the alternator initially by flushing it through with degreaser but now the regulator is shot. Owell, $177 from motor traders (coventry group) for a new genuine Bosch alternator is not to bad.

Hi Davidald,

Yeah mate, I read another topic just b4 saying that you can separate the Hp hose from the screw instead of

replacing the whole lines. lol Too bad I just repalced mine yesterday oh well, atleast I know if I have this issue again it wont be as expensive next time round.

Its such a pitty one thing leads to antoher hence why I recommend ppl to check their Hp hose and bolts to prevent this

from happening.

What symptoms did you have from the regulator malfunction?
