BP98 in Perth used to be 8c a litre more than unleaded but for last 2 years or so its always 13c more a litre.

After it went up, fuel drive off's skyrockets at my local BP lol

the price of fuel all together is absolute crap but what can we do. It's not so bad these days as I only have to fill up once every month maybe twice at max but its abit depressing walking away spending as much as we do. Lucky I can walk to work in less than 5mins love small towns.

Maybe you should sell your performance car and buy a small run about diesel hatch!

Did you miss the point along your merry way?

I used to work at a Quix (Mobil) 10 years ago, just as petrol was starting to escalate. Yep, back in the day when on occasion you could buy petrol on a Tuesday for say $0.629 and gas for even $0.189!

At that time there was only Premium (as opposed to Ultimate); the price policy that was in place was from memory either 6 or 8 cpl over whatever we were charging for the regular stuff, but it was CAPPED at a certain amount (again I can't quite remember).

For a little while (a month or two) as prices increased the capping worked in your favour, as the capped price was only 3 or 4 cpl higher than the regular price. But then that stopped... and the rest is history.

A couple of bits of info you may or may not be aware of:

1. Probably sounds obvious but it isn't necessarily: The poor schlep behind the counter has no idea how or why the price is determined, so there's really no point in asking him about it if you think you're being ripped. He simply gets a phone call from head office or an area manager who says "change the price to X" and that's it.

2. If the price is going up, the price on the display board must be shown as a higher amount than that on the bowser; if it is going down the the bowswer goes down first. In other words - the price displayed on the board must be equal to or higher than that at the pump.

Of course this probably doesn't apply to PULP as it's usually only the regular price that's displayed on the board.

I always find it interesting looking at the meter on the pump as I'm filling up; 98 RON seems to be on average 10% more popular than 95, and about 1/4 to 1/3 as popular as regular

/end random facts

Exactly!! No amount of whining on internet forums or following those stupid "dont buy fuel on this day" emails will ever change things.

I look at fuel like insurance. If you cant afford it, you cant really afford the car! Of course we are being ripped off, but when arent we? Insurance, fuel, rego, $7 coke, pie and sauce combo at the servo, $9 bourban and cokes at pubs etc etc

Other day at my local BP a guy walks in whinging about filling up his modded 33 GTR. Weird Indian bloke behind the counter quickly reminds him that an extra $10 bucks a week doesnt even come close to the money he has spent on fmic, rims, exhaust and any the other mods lol

Nope, I have 3 cars that I fill, and they all fill on BP Ultimate, petrol and diesel...

~$80 for the XR6t

~$55 for the fiesta

~$340 for the Landcruiser

Work hard, Play hard... Life is too short to give a toss about $10 a tank extra.
