The 5.4 was a piece of junk really... pulled out of the Ford US trucks and was never a good performance engine, this new 5.0 is different and should actually rev unlike the 5.4. More revs, more power, better economy... that's the idea.

The latest motor mag july 09 suggests the 2010 FPV FG update will introduce a 325KW 5.0l V8 engine to the GT, GT-P range.

Has anyone heard any rumours, read any articles about what can be expected in the 2010 F6 update other than the inline 6 still remains?.

I suspect that if the V8s hit 325kw marketing pressure would probably limit the F6 to 320Kw.

I wonder if FPV have the courage to break taboo and realise that F6 and GT models have different buyers and thus will let the F6 breathe a bit better so that we can get a 380Kw F6 from the factory even if its in a future F6 R-spec/HO model.

Talking about the 2010 FPV FG update has anyone heard anything on the FPV GTHO and the F6 being AWD? They were rumours which I first heard in 2007 but I think the global financial crisis put an end to them.

Looking beyond 2010 I can't see the current inline 6 or v8s remaining when legislation is being drawn up requiring manufacturers to hit an average 7.2l/100km across their entire fleet for new cars being sold from 2016 onwards. These current FPVs are a threatened species.... enjoy them before we are legislated off the road.

I think there's a good chance this new aluminium V8 would be lighter than the cast iron I6 + turbo. It'll give the new GT a slightly higher power to weight ratio, but seeing as V8s achieve their max torque higher in the rev range - it'll be a tough call.

I doubt we will see a AWD FPV ever (F6X excluded), unless the donor car AKA a Falcon is also AWD.

FPV would never spend the money to develop an AWD system for such a limited run. I also think the GTHO will be put on ice for a few more years as FPV/Ford do not have the money to make it right. I think they want more than a sticker kit model and give it a W427 type treatment. The problem is with halo models is they do not make money on generate advertising and exposure.

We're heading towards no more petrol too mate, and no more icebergs, and no more sun in the sky eventually too.

Any more open ended statements? The turbo will be around for at least one more iteration.
