Hey guys,

My car's developed a slight problem sometimes (very intermittent) where it will sometimes completely stall when you are down changing and coming to stop.

It has only happened around 3 times in 2 weeks, and is very hard to pin point.

I was maybe leaning towards coils, as im getting "Coil A circuit fault" in the error log of the computer. I am going to change them this weekend anyway..

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this before? And if one coil was giving an error, whether or not the car would just stall intermittently?

Car is a BA MKII XR6T 6 Speed manual, with NKG 0.8mm iridium plugs, nizpro valve springs, fuel pump, injectors, etc.

Cheers guys.

I have the same problem, can you explain your problem a bit more.

mine happens when I change down from 3rd to 2nd and it starts to sound real rough/back cackle/spluttering (like a rally car), then I push the clutch in and it dies, but if I tap the accelerator it smooths out. its not every time but nearly every time. mine is due to a fault that is causing it to not go into vacuum and sit on 4psi, I think its a faulty boost solenoid but will soon find out when I change it. is this like what you are experiencing?

oh and my car is exact same model and mods as yours

Umm nah mine doesn't cough and splutter. Mine just completely and smoothly stalls. The engine speed just slowly drops from 2000rpm, gets to 750 and instead of stopping and idling it will just keep smoothly dropping until it stalls. It doesn't cough splutter or anything, which is why I'm at a loss as to what's causing it.

The car runs fine and makes good power, and this doesn't happen everytime, only 3 times in 2 weeks..

I'm completely baffled :(

Thanks HID.

I got the codes extracted from the computer, and only the code about the coils came up.

Hopefully that fixes it.

I checked my battery cells and some were down on water so I filled them up.

Thanks again

Well I hate things like this happening, and it seems some people have this issue as well. I can't and won't rest until I find a solution.

I will change things and let you know what I find!

Just took the car for a quick drive, and it happened again. This is pretty disheartening to have this happen in a near new car. I keep the thing very well maintained.

If the coils don't fix the problem, I'm at a loss with what to try next. there are no other major error codes in the ECU, and the car's only done 60,000km's. Last thing I want to do is go changing all the expensive sensors for a problem that seems to only appear 2% of the time. It's not even a rough idle/stall, it just drops down and stalls very smoothly. :3gears::cry::msm:

The car runs like a dream the other 98% of the time!

Changed the coils to these:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=370213569404

No sign of stalling yet. Power is a lot smoother and there is no more surging during coasting. Also changed/flushed the coolant today.

I will let you guys know how it goes. Fingers crossed this fixes the problem.

I had this happen in my old Expensive Daewoo barina.. Coming to roundabouts and it would stall its pretty sh*t loosing power steering. And makes you look like a nob who can't drive when you're at the roundabout turning the key to start the heapa
