X3 Data Logging

I've got an SCT X3 with 3 custom tunes, I got the tunes and the X3 from CV Performance.

The tunes are great and loading between them works perfectly. I'm really happy with the result.

However, I'm now trying out the data logging option on the X3.

I've followed SCT's instructions to a tee but it's still not working. Has anyone got their X3 to work in monitor mode ?

All I'm getting against each PID that I've selected to log data for is "INVALID".

Their instructions are:

•Plug in the X3/SF3 to the vehicles OBD2 port.

•Scroll down to Data Logging, Press Select.

•Then Scroll down to Setup Data Log, Press Select. Pick Diesel or Gas, then press select.

•You are now ready to pick the pids.

oSelect them by highlighting them and then pressing select. You’ll notice that an Arrow will show next to the PID once selected.

oYou can select up to 20 Pids. NOTE: Default parameters are generated from a generic list of readable PCM parameters. It is possible that some pids shown will not be log able on your particular vehicle.

•Press Cancel to Exit from the list of Pids.

•This will bring you to a Save Data Configuration Menu.

oSelect – Save OK, Left – Back, Cancel – Exit

•Start Data Logging

oSelect – OK, Cancel – Exit

•A Message will display stating to make sure the vehicle is running, press Select to Start Recording.

•Once The Log has started, you can press LEFT/RIGHT arrows to view additional PIDS.

•Select will Stop Recording.

•Cancel will Exit the Log.

•You can Review this Log using a Computer with Livelink 4.24 or greater installed.

•Once 4.24 is installed and open…

•Then press: File/ Import Data log file from X3/livewire.

•A pop up box appears, Select Datalog0.dat from the list, then Press Ok.

•This will open and display the saved datalog.

Help from anyone with experience doing this would be appreciated.

I've also got LiveLink v5.1.0 installed and the drivers are working fine. However, I also can't log data live even after following SCT's instructions here:

http://www.sctflash.com/support/index.php?...id=32&nav=0

I've followed their demo as well and I'm running Windows XP SP3 on the laptop.

Again - any help from someone experienced doing this would be great.

Cheers,

Darren.

What is your processor code (4 number/digit combo written on the side of the computer under the bonnet)? Probably A3YA or something. Anyway ring Herrod Motorsport and alert them of the problem and you may need to quote this code. They have recently released a new firmware update for the X3, however they will need to connect to your computer remotely to do the update. They won't email the update etc as you could turn a US X3 into an Australian X3, which is understandable. Good luck :-)

The firmware is ok its the actual program. SCT are still sorting out the livewire for us in WA. I however has had the pleasure in try out a beta version which SCT sent me from the states and it works but still requires refinement.

Any ideas when the new program might be out?

I'm not using LiveWire I've got LiveLink installed..

Hey Metaspoit,

Did you end up datalogging live with a laptop or did you store the data on your X3 and review it later on a PC? Seems to be quite easy to do on a laptop.

After some google searches I found the solution.

For whatever reason when you select the UPPERCASE PIDs it doesn't work. Selecting all lowercase PIDs works a treat.

Problem solved, go figure.
