The_Bogan Donating Members 881 Member For: 17y 7m 27d Gender: Male Location: Brisbane, Queensland Posted 09/06/09 09:28 AM Share Posted 09/06/09 09:28 AM I picked my car up 2nd hand from ford with 45,000km on the clock. tis an 04 Mk1 BA XR6T 4 speed auto.my car had around 50,000km on the clock when I manged to get my first tune into her, a capa 10psi generic tune.made 255rwkw. maybe 3 or 4 months later I threw a set of injectors and a wog cooler on and got it custom tuned. no trans cooler..made 312rwkw....thrashed every thursday and saturday night on the highways.. and maybe a few skids on a private road late on a saturday night....and during the week if someone in an import or Expensive Daewoo wanted a shot at the title, I wasnt afraid of putting the boot in.not to mention maybe 10 trips to the drags, averaging 4 runs for the night..the standard gearbox lasted maybe 7 months running 312rwkw with getting thrashed almost everyday, and numerous trips to the drags.it all comes down to how the car is driven.... no matter how well set-up your tune is, it will eventually die if you drive it hard.to help prolong the life of your standard box I would be throwing on a trans cooler and a thermo fan.and I would also be doing transmission flushes regularly, maybe every 3 months...hope this helps..... I bought my car with 320rwkw from sydney and the box stuffed up 3 times (once on the drive home to brissy). It was because of a poor tune from a well known tuner in sydney. Got it tuned by Elite here in brisbane and it hasn't missed a beat. Tuner will up the line pressures etc. Also, get a trans cooler, that will help for sure.
