Hi Guys

I have just taken the new FG F6 for a spin, both manual and then the automatic. As some of you may know my last few F6 and XR6T have all been autos.

I was looking for some thing different so decided on a Manual. But during the test drive on Saturday the loud bang as you shift from 1st to 2ed is some what hard to forget.

Has anyone been able to isolate where this noise is coming from. It must be some where between the gearbox and wheels ?

FORD is obviously unable to rectify it, so has anyone had any success in the aftermarket Diff / Drive shaft companies modifying the components.

Does this noise get louder as the cars mechanicals begin to wear ?

It may be another auto in the garage next week..........

I had a FG F6 Auto for 2 months and noticed exactly the same types of noises from brand new..... Quite often, sounded like you had left the diff behind....

Now have a BFII xr6t with 60k on the clock (+330rwkw) and it doesnt make any noise at all! ;)

Thank Jet.. I knew I could count on you for a simple reply LOL

In your case does the shunt get worse the older the car gets... or the older the driver gets.....

Final decision tomorrow, black manual or the Black Auto

James

mine isn't noticeable if I match the revs a little better. or change quicker.

I have had the shunt since new, hasn't changed one iota since then (15,100km now) You really can just drive around it, although sometimes I get lazy and it clunks...

There is one solution always go hard and it won't clunk. some others have added extra oil to the gearbox to remove some noises, not sure if it would help with these though. probably in the diff or something.

Guys unfortunately there is not much you can do about it other than learn how to drive around it. Its one of fords NO Cost Options.
