The proof is in the pudding mate and with a lifetime guarentee you need not worry about the manifold "falling apart" .The average ETM manifold weighs 10kg. Also notice the elongated stud holes in the head flange.

I've been thinking about buying a Snort Stage 4 manifold. The turbo e-series guys seem to be pretty happy with them but I'm yet to see anyone on here use one. Any opinions?

Dude, do yourself a favour and buy the ETM kit. Custom made to whatever you want. He will make your dump pipe, therefore no stuffing around with trailers or tilt trays to get exhaust done $$$$$??????? Quality +++ And on the quality side, stainless has a very large thermal expansion rate, in comparison to mild steel. The steam pipe has a stress rating of approximately 250 Mpa, which is ideal. Any softer, and they would melt around themselves, and harder and they would start to crack around the welds ( like stainless ). These things work very well, just take a look at how many happy customers there are out there. So like I said, don't look at the money, just buy it then it is all forgoten the first time you put the pedal down................or buy a sh*t one, then in 6 months you can buy one of ETM's. Cheers.

Smoke them tyres, are your questions, concerns and theries based on experience, or research and scientific numbers?? As leigh and myself collectively have probably manufactered 5000 manifolds in the past 5 years, and I for one have had 2 failures, both on circuit cars, with no turbo bracing, both heat wrapped and both missing an engine to dump pipe support for weight, so the ful exhaust weight was hanging off the turbo. In both cases, we removed the heat wrap, ceramic coated the manifold, added a turbo and exhaust brace, and both setups have been in use repaired for several more years.

Steam pipe is convenient, cheap, easy to work with, easy to repair, durable, and comes in the 2 perfect sizes for just about every 6 cylinder application on the planet. I don't see why you need to reinvent the wheel, the best manifold material is here, and its already being used:)

Cheers...........................6BOOST

I vouche for the log types shrinking. I reckon I added about 8mm to one I made about 15 years ago. Stuffed if I know why.

What do you guys use for cutting your collectors

I.e abrasive drop saw

cold saw

band saw

small grinder with thin abrasive blade

Cheers for the advice mate. I really don't know anything about the properties of different metals so I hadn't compared the manifolds in that regard. The reason for considering the Snort manifold is I want to use one of their water/air plenaums. http://www.snortperformance.com/plenums.htm so I thought it would simplify things by shopping at the one place. I really think the plenum will work well with short piping making for a very responsive and fun car to drive. Also, my BF turbo motor is going into an EL XR6 and I don't really want to mess the front bar up with a giant front mount and I like the idea of not having to cut holes for piping or make up brackets and sh*t. Saying that though, there is no reason I couldn't use an ETM or a 6 Boost turbo manifold with the same setup. My turbo is damaged so I'll have to do some research and decide if I want a standard replacement or an alternative recommended by ETM or 6 Boost. Any input is appreciated, I want to spend time researching so I only have to do things once.

You'll need a high-mount turbo manifold anyway as the site seems to suggest, so I'd get something custom made as it's going in an older car, and it will give you more options for the install.
