Investigate weather a large core cooler is a disadvantage to a cooler suited to

what power level you are aiming at.

I have heard you can go to big.

The HDI package is a very good price for what you get.

Concidering it will support the power level you are looking at and

should handle 350rwkw as well. It is priced well compared to other kits.

Just ask what core they use and research how well that core works.

You may be surprised to find out some of these companies are just using

cheap chinese cores and are way over priced.

I had also used a standard XR cooler on my car at well over 275rwkw

and only ever found heat soak to be a problem on the track and on extreme hot days.

Mine you when I changed to the GT Series 600x300x75 HDI cooler with plazmaman plenum and pipe work,

it improved to the point I mentioned in above post.

Each run was very consistant with never a hint of heat soak in 70 to 85 % humidity.

I found with my standard cooler my times where slower as the humidity rised.

Also learnt not to do big skids as getting that heat into the standard cooler effected the run

something that didn't bother the HDI cooler.

Question for people who run the RAPID Performer Series V1, is there more induction noise than the stock system. I am also looking at this setup to start with and if needed later on replacing the pipeing with the high flow stuff.

If you keep the stock intake with the factory crossover I doubt there will be much more intake noise. It will be loader after a tune and increased turbo pressure.

to get the noise with a Performer kit you would need to go a PX crossover and a under battery intake. This makes the Performer kit more expensive then the bigger V2 kit, so you may as well go the High Flow V2 kit to start with.

However on the other hand if you start with a HDI kit and add the PW crossover and UBI then it is still viable due to the price of the HDI kit to start with.

If you ever plan on making anything more then low 300 I would say the High Flow V2 would be a much better option to start with. Both the Performer and HDI kits are fitted to cars making low 300's so both are capable of supporting the power. But I am not sure which one is more efficient and will make that power run after run?

Another vote for rapids coolers. I've had a Process West stage 2 cooler/crossover & CAI & I'm now running rapids V3.5 kit, very happy with it! Great bang for your buck too for any of Chris' kits!

Honestly it really depends on how deep your pockets are? From what I've read the HDi's are pretty good but dont have as many runs on the board as Rapids's.. Rapids products are much loved here so yeah, up to you and your wallet..

I must admit that my opinion is biased owning a HDI cooler. If we are going to compare lets not overlook the fact that the RAPID kit also uses a chinese core. In my opnion the HDI kt uses most of the available revealed air space out of all the coolers. It is wider than the RAPID kit and also has a 100mm thick core. I found about a 2-3psi increase when I bolted it up prior to the tune, so it definatelty flows more over standard. Its bar and plate design is also effective in heat transfer. At over 300rkw+ I find no power drop from heatsoak on back to back runs like I did with 250rkw using the standard cooler prior to my new mods.

I am in the same boat as the original poster. PW vs Rapid vs HDI?? Rapid has a good customer base and very good support and that is for a good reason, the products are obviously very good at what they are designed to do. But bang for buck the HDI kit is hard to overlook :)
