Best advice is to keep away from the Gold Coast :gtfo2: Better off heading further north away from all the craziness....Surfers is an absolute sh*tfight these days.

Undercover cars range from Hummers to Golfs...so it's just all about luck unfortunately. Most of the revenue up here comes from mobile speed cameras, usually unmarked in 4WD wagons or delivery vans...so treat every car on the side of the road as suspect. Only three fixed cameras in Qld so far, and all are signed (not as obviously as in NSW though), M1 northbound in to Brisbane, Storey Bridge northbound in the city, and Brice Highway northbound heading towards the Sunshine Coast.

Can you spot the unmarked jobbies up there if you know what to look for Tabby?

Down here you can spot them fairly easily, usually the LED strips either side of the rear number plate, and the extra gear on the dash is a dead set giveaway.

Depends. Most of then have lights behind the grill and mounted inside the rear window...and with the tinted windows by the time you see all the crap hanging off the dash it's too late :stupid:

The only real giveaway is an extra aerial or two hanging off the farkers.

...don't get me wrong though, I'm glad they use such subversive and underhanded techniques to help save my life.

Thanks Tab. I'll make mental note to watch out for the buggers long the road side. They sure are sneaky in Qld's. I'll write down the list you gave of the fixed cameras.

I have heard all about surfers and it's not a place for me with 2 little kids. It never crossed my mind of going there, will no need to go into surfers anyway.

Cheers

What is the distance of what the speed camera in the back of these Qld cars can pick you up from? EG: 1km - 500m

Leaving on Saturday hope the weather in gonna be nice for me. Would anyone recommend stopping at the DJR workshop?

Dunno precisely, I believe it's the speed you're doing at a 45 degree angle to the suckers. Don't know for sure but last minute braking manoeuvres have saved me in the past :innocent:

DJR is OK, they have the merchandise shop out the front and a few old relics. Workshop tour is $10 or something...not sure how much would be there to see these days with them buying everything in. :dontknow:
