So there is a high risk with this procedure? Do you have a solution in place if a problem like this occurs when flashing? If you don't what would we need to do if this occurs? will it cost us a considerable amount to have it fixed?

There's always a risk even when using your sct to switch tunes, just ask the people who it's happened to, one dude had a bad earth on his battery relocation kit, and it stopped mid process..

I just hope that I will be able to do what I want the trans to do, not what it wants to do.

Thanks for your answers SCT, I understand the risks involved with flashing, but the way it was described to me on the weekend the risk far out weighed the pay out at the end. If it is as reliable as the current flashing process when released then I have no qualms.

Cheers.

You must understand that if you have a problem it becomes our problem and this is not what anybody wants . This is the reason why we have to test and test in house before release so as we should have no problems, we know everybody is exited and wants the software now but nobody really wants the problems that could of happened if we released it too soon without proper testing

thanks sct , as you can appreciate we are all passionate about our cars and want to understand all the ins and outs.

ZF tuning has the natives excited as you may well imagine.

Please continue to maintain the dialogue with our valued members, as no doubt we all wish to avoid the angst

experienced from the transission from Xcal1

There are a lot of users of SCT product on this forum and a continued inclusion and sharing of info will be in everbody's

best interest.

This will be welcomed by all members and guests to our community alike :spoton:

Very true and I fully understand, hence my questions highlighting such problems, I just wanted them clarified before anyone made a decision to tune their ZF. And will help with my decision to move from the Xcal1 to Xcal3 instead of looking at other tuning products.

Thanks again for your responses.

Herrod has done a number of vehicles whilst sorting out the problems and all reports back from the people who have had there transmissions calibrated is very positive .HMS have 3 cars of there own for development that are used just for developing this ZF software and have put in many hours as well as a number of trips to the USA to get this sorted out. Once released HMS will be in the position to support your tuner with all the support they need for calibrating the ZF

So any truth to the rumours the car needs a powerpak hooked up to the battery because the flash can't have any voltage drop at all however miniscule otherwise it wipes the trans computer completely?

2 years ago I flashed a ZF trans with a battery so flat that it was unable to start the engine immediately after with no problems.

The fact that the 5R29-7J105-xx type codes are "calibration" only regions means if a flash fails, you will be able to re-flash it with no problems. Your not entirely erasing the operating system in the procedure.
