Believe me mate I see these things every day and its such a pain in the ass trying not to mark the bloody things before they go out the door.

No argument about the upmarket look and feel of the interior with the cashmere though - I'd go for a G6ET very easily, but at 22 and with a career of ford lease cars in front of me, the XR was the more logical choice for now. Just waiting on the exciting new stuff coming in the next few years. Swansong anyone? :gaypost:

I find it quite easy to keep the cashmere leather clean.

So this exciting stuff on the horizon, does that mean ford is going to learn how to build a car with no squeaks and rattles at last? Honestly my G6ET has more noises in it than a babies rattle the main ones being in the dash and somewhere in the "B" pillar (its had them since the day I drove out of the dealership), it really lets down a generally ok built car, especially one with such low kms as mine.

Ok I'll be nice and help you fix your problems.

Put some lithium grease inside your door latch (where it meets the stiker). That'll fix your "b-pillar"issue.

If you can be more descriptive about the dash rattle I might be able to help. At the moment its like saying "the engine makes a noise". Where abouts is it coming from, what sort of road surface, speed, etc. Can you do anything to turn the noise off, do you have an e-tag, etc?

Ive already tried the lithium grease on the striker but that hasnt fixed it at all, it does it worse when going along a rough road and or when turn in and out of driveways etc. Seems to be when the car "flexes".

The noises from the dash are coming from: 1) up behind the glovebox, have pulled the door off and had a look/feel around there but to no avail 2) the other noise is behind the gauge cluster, it sounds alot like "plug loom" rattle. These noise happen whenever the car is moving at speeds above approximately 20kmh.

I have already fixed the rattles within the inner front guards by getting rid of the christmas tree style clips and in there place used proper "scrivets" instead. They are now nice and tight, also foam taped the inside of the inner plastic gaurds where they sit on the mudgaurd lip.

When I get some spare time im going to pull the dash assembly out and sort out the dash rattles as they drive myself and missus crazy, they are that bad.

I live here in SA so us lucky buggers dont have any toll roads so have no need for a e-tag

Might have to take this to PM, but first - have you tried lubing the latch rather than the striker? Its a far more robust position (you're not going to brush up against the latch for example). Anyway - lets PM and I'll see if I can help!

Good to see all forums are the same, so easy for threads to get hijacked :innocent: not complaining though, thanks for all the info, still havent made a decision but have narrowed down what I am looking at.

Hi

I'm new to this. Just ordered a XR6T,manual black with Luxury pack and Tech pack. has anyone got paint protection, leather protect?

Also I know what the legal tint % is but I think it will look crappy, how dark and what % looks good on black cars.

cheers

Arnie

Got legal tint on mine and it's pretty good, wouldn't want too much darker to be honest.

Don't waste your money on all the overpriced aftermarket crap. If you do really want to get it then find someone else besides the dealer to do it at half the price. Only pretend you're interested if it's the stereotypical blond selling it with the long legs and massive ti...personality.

...and welcome and congrats :censored:

A client of mine looks after me for tinting, his advice was to not go beyond legal on a car like mine.

I have to admit it does look pretty sweet. Sure it might look better if it was that bit darker... but I'm not greedy :censored:
