hey guys.. first post on the website.

firstly.. I need a question answered.. I just bought a 2004 BA XR6 Turbo ute, im 20 years old and on my P's in Victoria. I've been asking everyone to see if im legal to drive it, and I cant get a definite answer.

I've checked Vicroads and I know the calculations and all that sh*te, has to be under 125KW/per tonne, now ive checked the plate on the engine and it says the GVM of the ute os 2370KG. I just cant see how it can weigh that much.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

GVM - Gross Vehicle Mass is the accepted safe, maximum allowable total mass of a fully loaded motor vehicle. It consists of the kerb mass (mass of the vehicle itself with all operating fluids) plus the payload.

In other words, carrying your maximum payload plus weight of the car, that is what the total weight would be. Utes weigh in around 1700 - 1800kgs from memory.

Nice ride and :funnydance:

Your illegal chief. If I was you I'd not even bother with the 'P' plate at all... much less likely to get pulled over. Unless of course you drive around town late at night and act like a hoon.

You shouldn't be driving the car in the first place, but if your gonna break the law... may as well remove the plate and chill on the road.

Try getting insurance for it, they'll definetly tell you whether your legal or illegal.

Prob something you should have done before buying it ?!?

By the way, its kind of daft posting up a couple of pics, showing the number plate and you also admitting to driving it. . . .

What do you think vic roads are gonna have him charged based on a post on the forum.

They still have to prove he was driving it to give him a fine, He can just say he was bragging on the net.

So id say hes not daft, some people are just overly paranoid :)
