Picture this:

XR6T pulled over by h/way patrol, officer looks over vehicle, points out the non-standard upgraded front brakes, and asks "You got an engineers certificate for those? And I don't see them mentioned on your rego papers?"

XR6T driver walks around to front of BA Falcon police car, squats in front of the wheels & points to the brakes, "I see that you're runing on DBA slotted rotors, mmm, nice. You got an engineers certificate for them?"

Silence......more silence & glaring stares....

30 minutes later....

XR6T drives away from curve complete with yellow defect sticker on winscreen, defects for brake system, no centre muffler, vehicle lowered/clearance to less than 100mm, etc, etc....

Bugger!

I hope that a cop in a XR police car would be a ford lover and be lenient on us Ford drivers and let us off for mods that are sensible such as upgraded brakes.

Or on the other hand this cop in the xr could be a full Expensive Daewoo lover and being pissed off with the fact that he is driving a XR and loving it wants to punish all ford owners by throwing the book at them.

Im hoping for the 1st one.

 :banghead: that's just bad. A little common sense on behalf of the police would have been nice.

It's bloody stupid penalizing someone for upgrading their brakes. The rest of the mods (exhaust and lowering), fair enough, but upgraded brakes should be rewarded.

Oh you made your car safer?

So it can stop better?

Like say when you see a Revenue Camera stuck on the side of a steep hill, which means you can hit the picks, slow down under the limit and not get booked?

BAD MAN!

I am currently in the middle of getting ALL the mods on my T (including the brakes) engineered. Not a cheap exercise, costing me $550, and a fair bit of time on the dragstrip performing braking tests. But I am sure it will be all worth it in the end!

Funny you should ask! I got my renewal yesterday from NRMA ( :o ), my insurance has gone up by $110, but the agreed value has increased, more than what I had it insured for originally! When I first got the car, the agreed was $52600, now it is $53444! I would have thought the agreed value decreases each year. :censored:

When I notified NRMA about my mods, they said the wheels and brakes are fine, as long as they are legal and fully engineered. that's what they said...... good thing I recorded the phone call! ;)
