bzxfr1 Member 3 Member For: 20y 14d Posted 22/05/09 10:27 PM Share Posted 22/05/09 10:27 PM I have a BA11 series two XR6 turbo 6spd manual. travelled approx 140,000 k's.It has an intermittent fault where the engine appears to almost cut out when under load.at first it would happen if for example if the car was in top gear and travelling at approx 90kmph I would drop back into fouth and plant the foot. as soon as the revs climb to approx 4000 the power would cut out completely until you removed the foot from the accelerator pedal and then the power would restore. and no time does an engine light etc illuminate.the problem appears to be geeting worse. Now when accelerating from a standing start as soon as RPM hits about 4000 the power cuts and while I hold the accelerator pedal down the power cuts back in for a micro second and cuts back out again until the the pedal is released. Also when the power cuts out there is a noise which sounds like a bang.I took it to Ford and surprise surprise they could find nothing. They said that dianostics revealed no fault codes and that it is pulling like a freight train.Could anyone provide me with a suggestion as to what the problem could be.BZXFR1@gmail.comCheersMike. millers Member 113 Member For: 16y 10m 23d Posted 23/05/09 06:59 AM Share Posted 23/05/09 06:59 AM sounds similar to an issue im having with mine.does it seem to hesitate like it wants to go more but cant quite make it?I have been checking my fault codes (using VCM Suite) and have managed to find an error for Throttle Control System Accuator (I think that's it, but it doesnt show up all the time even when its playing up). a bit of googling led me towards thinking it was the TPS playing up so I swapped that with a known good one and still have the same issue. a bit more looking around found someone else on the forum (BionicXR6T) who had the same issue and Ford replaced the throttle control module from under the dash and that fixed the issue.I havent got hold of another throttle control module to test with so I dont know if that will fix my issue or not. if your car is under warrenty still then try convince Ford to replace it for you.another mate had pretty much the same problem on an 03 BA too which turned out to be that the cat had collapsed. might be worth checking to see if your cat has fallen in on itself. Make sure your plugs and coils are in good condition, which im also going to do, and if that doesn't help talk to a reputable tuner Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/57891-engine-cutting-out-sos/#findComment-881987 Share on other sites
