I have barely driven the car, but at idle when I give it a very sharp stab at the throttle I get the 'shhhh' type noise for a split second before the engine revs up. It's quite auditable and annoying. If I rev the engine up slowly you can't hear the noise. To me it sounds like it's coming from under the rocker cover but ford just rang me and assures me it's induction noise. I had them do a cylinder leakage test and everything is at 95%+. I have re-fitted the plenum...checked for leaks and still no answers. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers! As the fiesta has a plastic manifold its more audible, and as you have gone from a cast thick manifold to a thin manifold you can now hear it easier... You have to live with it... I didnt & it leaked making the same sought noise but once I used some gasket sealent & a new gasket all solved.

Boost leak was my initial thoughts but I had used a brand new gasket and also silicon sealant. I had a well regarded tuner look at it and he also had a high hp car with the same plenum there and it didn't make the same noise as mine (only difference between the plenum was that mine was black!). The tuner reckoned it wasn't a boost leak. I re-fitted the plenum without the gasket (just sealant) and the noise is still there. Checked hoses etc a number of times. It doesn't sound like air is rushing through the plenum, unless it is air gushing in as the TB cracks open? It's quite loud and the fact that it only happens on my car (and not others with the same plenum) is quite bizarre! It's got everyone stumped, so I may have to get it tuned and then see what happens on the dyno? Edited 21/05/09 01:26 AM by IH8TOADS

Mine makes the exact same noise, it’s just the air rushing in as the TB opens. Stick your ear against the plenum and give it a little rev… I actually thought it was a problem too when I first heard it. I don't mind the sound, and it's nothing to worry about. Don't think you will be able to do anything about it anyway!

You have very similar mods to me so if it is indeed induction noise then a solution maybe in the throttle settings?
