Had a great time. BIG thanks to Cro and all others involved in the organisation and running of the event. Met plenty of new people and the drive was fun.

p.s. Mick - After you left Ross filled in for you as Chief Rob Bagger Outterer. But its ok, I went easy on him. :D

Cheers

Rob

Did not do the GOR buy am sure you all would have had a great time.

We did mate, best fun you can have with your pants on I reckon! :D :o

Thanks to everybody who helped organise this fantastic event. Thanks also to the people that attended. Thnks to Rob (Saleen1) for lending me his spare CB and putting up with my inane banter all weekend! Thanks to Mick (MS700) and CraigH for bearing the brunt of all the HgAg and cardigan jokes (in the absence of Ken). Thanks to Mat (Trumpy) also for putting up with the HgAg comments and being chief route planner. Thanks also to Felicity (Discovery) for giving us a guided tour of the Discovery Centre even though it was her day off. Thanks to 'ole matey' ;) for unwittingly providing hours of amusement and entertainment. :spit: And thanks to Ford for making such a great car. :o

I'll try and post some pics tomorrow.

Well where do I start... B)

Thanks to Cro , it was truely fantastic, a great drive and wonderful to see the Ford factories. So there are 122,000 parts in an XR6

and we walked past a box of lovely red brake callipers in the FPV building.

I could have knocked the guide out and we all coulda fitted brembo's to our Turbos, all the parts and all the tools were right there...another missed opportunity

and I did like th quote from GP (God) that he would like to see the XR6T a "cult" car and had plans to do so..

But the best was the driving, to JB and Ing, Scott and Shelly, Matt and Christine, Rob, Ross, the drive from Warnabool to Echuca was just Fantastic  and Plonky you just dont want to know how fast 6 Turbos can go in convoy.

So to all, a bloody big thanks to ALL you wonderful new friends. and to Matt (aka Mother Goose) this is Chicky #4 signing off.

What can I say...

What an awesome 4 days ! :smilielol:

The 3 factory tours, and then an audience with Geoff Polites were fantastic!

Followed up by a spectacular drive along the Great Ocean Road!

A big thanks to Cro for putting it all together, and thank you to everyone that came along for the ride and making it a truely memorable weekend!

Trumpy, thanks for the Mother Goose effort! (What courage in the face of adversity!)

Thanks also to the Victorian Police for their lack of presence on the Warnambool/Echuca/Wodonga drive

To answer BlueXR6T's questions about GP's talk...

There was NO mention of the "HO", FPV "T" or any other future plans... :(

The adoption of the XR range has totally exceeded their initial expectations - the AU XR's accounted for 5% of the total Falcon build, when they were planning the BA (it was almost the AY) they thought that they could get the mix up to 7% - it's currently running at 13% (I think - can anyone confirm this)

The only negative comment that has been made to Ford about the BA's is that they are a bit too heavy on the fuel, but weight/strength will not be sacrificed, the 2nd series (due sometime after September '04 - maybe) will make improvements through other efficiencies.

The brake shudder issue was acknowledged, but the point was made that improvements have been made, and they believe the issue has been resolved

That's what I remember, anyone else got anything ?

I could not believe how approachable Mr P. was, and his willingness to answer (almost) all the questions thrown at him. (A really great guy  - I will be sending him a (snail-mail) letter to thank him for his time - PM me if you would like his (Ford) postal address.)

Can't get enough of this

Where do I start?

Big thanks firstly to Cro for the organisation of the whole weekend, it was the best event so far IMHO.

Had a ball with the whole NSW/ACT crew on the way to Mexico and back, so thanks to ducatiJB, twinxrs, cramorr, phantomxr6, falchoon, saleen1, Trevor, and phantom_xr6_turbo. And a special thanks to ms700 for suppliying the refreshments! I had an absolute ball driving with you guys. It was also great to get to know everyone over a couple of drinks at night.

The factory tours were great, if a little rushed at times, but I was amazed at how down to earth Geoff was in the hour he spent talking to us. If you're reading this Geoff (we hope you are) keep it going.

It was great meeting the Mexican contigent, and we had a great drive on the GOR with Dagabond, BLKXRT and XRCISM. The weather turned out a treat (rain coming in sideways) but thoroughly enjoyed it none the less.

Have you recovered from the helicopter ride yet Rob?

Had a bit of an interesting event just after I split from the group on the way home. Saleen1 and I left the others at Echuca to head up to Deniliquin, and just after I left him I managed to get what I found out to be a shearing comb through my rear tyre. Basically it is a 4 pronged fork, with spikes an inch long. Changed to the 16in spare and made it to Griffith, and went shopping for 2 newies in the morning. Didnt get home until 5 on the monday. Will post some photos tomorrow.

The car was absolutly covered in bugs, only took an hour and a half to clean (the intercooler was a mess).

In the end managed to rack up over 2500km in 5 days, and loved all of them. We need to make something like this an annual event.

Wow. I am still raving to friends who will listen how great a day it was on Friday. I can't wait till the next Victorian cruise I hope that the family and I will be certain starters. It is great to be part of such an enthusiastic group of people all with a passion for a great car.

Thanks again for all those involved in organising the event (especially Cro).

It was great to meet some of you and put a face and name to the cryptic and anonymous nicknames on the site. Hope to catch up and chat with more people next time around.

To add to twinxrs recollection of Geoff's chat:

I think it was 16% of sales are XRs of which there were 1800 units last month with around 20 per day being turbos or roughly 400 for the month (still production limited). The sales trend is for more of the cars in the BA lineup to be upper spec, ie. XRs, fairmont and ghia at the expense of the XT.

They are selling roughly 150 GT/GTPs per month

There was mention that there was a lot more development left in the straight 6

May be an option on series 2 XRs for climate control

It would come as no surprise that they at Ford are very excited about the Territory and I think justifiably so. Should be could for the company in Australia which can only mean that great cars like the XR6T will be part of the future for some time to come.

Some random musings

110km/h is way to slow

Melbourne has crap weather

Melbourne has crap drivers

Great Ocean Road rocks!

Geoff Polites rocks!

You guys rock!

Nothing turns heads like a convoy of XR6Ts cruising through town

There are at least twice as many BA XRs in Melbourne than there are in any other area in Australsia

Not all HgAg drivers wear cardigans

Mrs TwinXRs is a leadfoot!

Bugs suck, bigtime

DucatiJB is a pi$$head!

Red Ts go faster than any other colour!
