ok people I know its not a xr6 but I have a xr8 ute which I'm superchargine I have been offered a 6 speed auto it is currently a 4sp so here it is how much is involved eg do I need an adapter plate even though they do use the same blocks and never have changed hem also the computer will need to be changed as well and what does this do to the icc as I have premium sound does it lock any of this out and is it a relativly trouble free conversion?

dont mean to be harsh with the topic description just seems there are alot of people who like to know it all but actually put a tool in thier hand they know f*ck all.

Probably not the best way to ask for help.

The search function is really useful...

Ba To Be Bf'ed, 6 Speed Auto conversion

Alan's car already had substantial modifications. If your ute is currently standard then you'd be better off trading up rather than going to the expense of fitting the ZF and everything that's required with it.

Like Adam said, that was not the best way to ask for information.

Well, considering your ute is "far from standard", and you seem to know f#@kloads with tools in your hands, a ZF conversion, for you, should be a walk in the park.

Alan has done it before, so youre not being a pioneer.

Let us know how you go.

I asked a mate who asked one of his mates girlfriend whos brother did the conversion and he reckons its a walk in the park. No problems, just slip the 6sp in, works with the 4 speed computer and you can use the existing bellhousing and driveshaft.

No problems mate, just do it.
