Picked up my new G6ET last weekend and am very impressed. April 09 build.

One issue that is bugging me though.

The audio system.

When the volume is down to its lowest volume level there is an audible hiss from the speakers.

Does not matter whether CD, radioo or ipod is selected but when the volume is turned down the hiss is there through all speakers.

Anyone else noticed this or am I missing a set up option or something?

Cheers Steve

Thanx for the replies.

Understand the pwr off choice but really should not have to with todays technology.

Never had a car with this issue with the audio system.

Actually just got the salesman to check some cars in the lot and it appears to be common.

Disappointing if this is how it is.

Still interested in any other observations.

yeah I remember I had an old tape deck in my first car, and when I turned the volume right down it would not only turn the speakers off but the whole stereo :beerchug: must've been a good one!

Just tried on the way home and didn't hear anything until I stopped and turned a/c off and put my head down next to the speaker... still curious why not just turn the stereo off?

Personally with 'todays technology' I take full advantage and have access to 80gig of music playing through the ipod connector.

The factory stereo in most cars today, and the past for that matter, are just absolute crap.

Yeah they make noise, some call it good sound, buggered if I know why, but they are an after thought by most car manufacturers.

If you want good sound you need to upgrade just about everything.

I don't think I've used this example before, but if you compare listing to an am mono signal music track, playing through an old set of speakers you get hissing, popping, background noise and all sorts of interference that sounds horrible.

Now use some late model speakers with a digital source, possibly 5.1 or better audio and you get the picture.

My factory stereo no longer exists in my car and has been replaced with components from one manufacturer and the sound quality is chalk and cheese with what was there to start with.

If you're after good sound you should look into replacing all your factory stuff with high quality aftermarket gear.

The his isnt too loud, I never noticed it until I saw this post... while the cars moving I cant hear it, so to me it isnt a concern, but true, it should be dead quiet or close to it.

I'm pretty happy with the premo sound system... Ive upgraded just about every stereo in all my previous cars, but this one isnt too bad, the sub needs to go but other than that, the sound is ok... once I adjusted the EQ a few times its accually pretty good, and the iPhone sounds good too.

Its far from audiophile quality, but is ok considering

OK. Thanx all.

To me its not really good enough. Don't think I'm being too picky.

Have sent a note to ford and will see what they say.

Will update result.....
