Regarding other skylines, I'd never own a skyline unless it was a GTR the rest are just ricercrap, most T's would beat normal skylines.

Ive seen a 98 honda integra vtec turbo that makes skylines look like match box cars, it easy ate up evo's. If you got the $$$$$ you can make anything go fast even a mini :spoton:

At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference.

Here is a vid of mine at the recent Powercruise. (excuse the blue language lol)

NYT-SKY, that must of been a lot of fun :bangcomputer:

But yeah it's very hard to start comparing modded cars because it all comes down to $$ spent.

Track Car: GTR

Road Car: Take your pick.

Since the event I have fitted a HKS 3.75inch exhaust (up from 3inch)

Now up to 350rwkw (up from 325)

Car is now getting the twin 044 and big surge tank treatment.

Who would have thought you could get 470+ rwhp out of a GT30 equipped RB25 :)

I had an R33 Gtst type M a few cars ago, it had only a few mods HKS exhaust, mines ecu, boost controller, strut brace, coil overs and some big arse tyres and managed a 13.3 on the quarter  , hardly as much bang for your buck compared to the xr6t.

What a lot of people are failing to realize is in factory tune a R32 GTS-T (RB20DE-T) was only producing 208PS (approx 200hp). This is a japanese imposed power limit that has been in place for many years. R33's fell into the same basket. Quite often in Japan what would happen though, was a customer would go into their Nissan dealership, Buy a skyline, and then the dealership would send it down the road on the customers behalf and have mods installed before the customer even picked the car up. It's a convenant way to get around the law (For those of you who live in NZ, ever seen a completely standard skyline?) Yes Skylines can be fast

<- That car was built by a workshop just around the corner from me for a customer in the UK! But they have one main flaw - Most are only 2ltrs, some are 2.5ltrs, and a very few of them are 2.6ltrs (And they are heavy! R32 GT-R 1430KG, R33 1540KG, and the new GT-R is 1700KG) Having said that though a BA XR6-T is 1620-1740KG depending on spec but does product 320HP!

Interesting thread and very timely...

I have resisted buying another GTR for quite a while now but had to submit to my inner voice telling me to get back into a GTR and do some circuit racing and maybe do a tarmac rally or two. I know that the EVOs are a better car for this sort of work but I love boosted straight sixes.

I cannot justify the $160K to $180K price tag for an R35. I might look into one in a few years time. I will let everyone else sort out the headaches and problems.

I bought an unregistered imported 1990 R32 GTR. It has an engineers certificate and was no problem to get it registered. This car must have been a Japanese street warrior it has plenty of goodies installed and you can see that it has led a hard life. The owner said that it had a lot of chinese/asian stickers all over the back windscreen. The interior is pretty clean and body is straight but has some key marks on the bonnet, guard and door.

The aim is to build a reliable circuit and drag car. 300 awkw is what I would like to have on tap.

I'm at the stage where I am assessing its condition and cleaning it up a bit, sorting out the customary oil leaks (standard for these cars) then it is going in to Tunehouse for a full inspection and maybe a tune.

I am prepared to rebuild the engine and replace and repair whatever it needs to make it worthy of sitting in the same garage as my 10s taxi.

Depending on how it comes up, I might be at WSID in the next few weeks to clean out the cobwebs!!

I had an Aussie Spec GTR which with an exhaust, Intercooler and a tune ran 11.9sec passes, lapped oran park south circuit in 52 sec on steet rubber and ran 1:08s around Wakefield on slicks. That was a good allround car... On the street it was amazing.

Hopefully this project will produce similar if not better results.
