Not a fan of GTR's but if the ute wasn't so damn handy I'd have my old WRX back in the stable in a heartbeat!!

Your kidding!

Ive had both at the same time (1999 WRX (partners car) and my R33 GTR) and their was no comparison - GTR a superior car in every way..............maybe the later Rexes closed the gap though, not sure.

Haha.. Mate of mine had an R33 GTR.. I've driven it plenty.. Mine was an MY05 WRX and he had me on straights but that was it.. GTR's are still too heavy for decent corners IMO.. EVO, WRX and Mazda's RX series are where the cornering potential is.

Where they shine is they can corner ok (well good enough) and still have the punch to hold there own on the straights, the little four bangers don't.

Yep, good points. I think the later WRXs were a fair bit better than 98-00 series so makes sense........

Agree.

I am a little biased as I simply dont corner hard with family in car (90% of the time), but straight line/easy corners I still drive the car as it was made safely - hence I put more priority on that than twisty stuff so I guess it depends on where the car will be used as to which is "best" (if there is such a thing....ha ha).

its simple a 4L inline 6 twin cam 4 valve vs a 2.6L six twin cam 4 valve the xr6t is only like 300kgs more, the skyline would have it at the lights but as soon as both hit 3rd its over most street tunes on done up cars stay within 100kw per L of capacity so u just cant mess with the xr6 less boost more power more reliability near same fuel average more simple single turbo, no allwheel drive to worry about more room its actly a car, people wont throw rocks at u wen u drive by only attractive thing about a skyline is if u wait and look round its possible to find one fully done up for under 15k

hallelujah, that's the best post ive seen in a long time :)

Don't know why all of you are comparing a 150k car to a 30k car. Which one is fast???? Which ever is setup right. ANY gts is not worth wasting your petrol as there slow. Gtr are only good off take off. If you can be within a car length or 2 off take off any true 280-300kw T would walk all over it.
