It's a great day at my place today.

Picking up a new XR6T in Auckland with the kids this morning. They think we're just going for a test drive - until the dealer tells us not to bother bringing it back!

To top it off it's my birthday, and I guess it's the cars as well.

Off for a test run round Waiuku, South Auckland. I'll let you know how it goes! Will also get some digital pics next week.

Cheers

Burtz

Great news, Burtz!

Keen to hear your first impressions and see the pics ... pity she's not HgAg though.

:censored: That was the look on my face when I put my foot on the go pedal a little vigourously on my first drive!

My impressions - FWIW, and note my previous ride was a 2000 AU1 XR8 185Kw. First off, I noted the increased responsiveness - as long as the shifter was in Performance mode. Leaving it in the regular slot and it felt sluggish compared to the V8. More like an ordinary V6 I guess. This was particularly true with the slow takeoff in run in mode rather than with a kick down acceleration. THM - leave it in performance mode.

Funniest thing was when we stopped after the first 60km and the kids asked what the burning rubber smell was- I jokingly replied its probably the rubber bands in the engine bay. Had a look under the hood and rubber band count = 2.

Dealer gripe - One squirt of the windscreen washer and it was done, had to fill it up myself. Dealer smiley - Fuel tank was full!

Oh, and the colour certainly turned a few heads in Auckland today. I got a friendly toot in Waiuku from a fellow Blood Orange driver -Thanks mate.

Can any one direct me to a thread, or advise, whether I should give it a coat of Silicon Car polish straight off or wait ?

PS It's 6pm and still can't get the grin off my face!

PSS The one great new "feature" is the lack of footrest, at 6'4" that thing was a pain (literally) in the AU. Now I can stretch my left leg!

Sounds like she's got a good sense of humour ... might want to keep her, ah?
