2001 Ford Xr 6 Transmission Problem

my ford xr6 2001 when you put it into any gear it makes a creeking noise kinda like when you ride the brakes if u know what I mean.

it was doing this 4 months after I brought it 2 yrs ago, so I took it back to the car yard they have it serviced the trans, it was fine for about a year now its doing it again, and also the second gear change in drive about 5 times it has make a noise when it changes, I have only done 9,000 kms since my trans service 2 yrs ago, I have a breakdown warranty for 1500 bucks, does this sound like a major job or just service and adjustments?

I hope my warranty is ok it said first change trans oil then manfactures recommondations I was told by my mechanic its every 30,000

km

I thought the trans was sealed in these it dont need to be serviced?

anyhow I taking ito to a place on monday to see

if it is stuffed and the warranty pays out 1500 minus exces what will I be lookin at for the rest roughlty?

ps the car also has a slight oil leak which I have to fix, im wondering if its worth getting it done or trading it in

warranty is till dec

thanks if anyone can give me some adivce, ps I always have my car serviced every 6 months car has new tyres, new battery and drive belt and front breaks, I cant understand why I have had to have all this done only doing 9,000 km be cheaper to get a bus ! :bowdown:

What year is it? Just checkin' in case it's a typo.

No idea what the sound is that you're trying to describe. Where is the sound comng from? Is it while your driving or just idling in gear?

hi not its a 2001 I dont have a flash ba falcon ha ! its like a creeking noise like a door makes not a grind that's when puttin it into any gear when its cold

its also making a noise when it changes into the second gear in drive, but only done that 5 times I will see what they say with my warranty on monday if I only have to pay 500 or something towards it I will get it done

god I only done 10,000 kms in 3 yrs expected the car to last longer than that !

Hey Aaron,

I had BA Futura with similar noise and was told it was the transmission parking lock and it sure made one hell of a noise when you were parked nose pointing up hill and you took it out of park.

Front bakes also used to creak a bit when you put it into drive when the pads where cold.

hey dude thanks maybe its just that im getting it checked out anyway

and I know the parking one that's annoying it helps if you pull up the handbreak and then put it into gear !

took it today its booked in for next week it didnt make any noises when the guy was driving it grrrr so maybe its just a service

my old man said it might be the diff underneath making the noise when you put it in gear it needs to be greased or something because when its cold it makes the noise it dont do it when its warm so we will see

had the trans serviced they said it was nearly mint nothing in the pan or magnet sitll got the noise when its cold must be something else getting the garage to look when I get my warrant
