I am another fg ute owner experiencing driveline issues, I had a sqeeking noise in the rear which was a bent axel. ford tried to tell me I was doing all sorts of naughty stuff. I also seem to have excessive backlash between gear changes as well as other times, does anyone else have this excessive noise? its an xr6t man.

I have a lot of backlash in my fg xr6t. When I let the throttle off when givin it a bit I feel it pretty bad. got ford to have look at it and apparently it's only the spare wheel????????? I'll have the car on a hoist this weekend, Any ideas on what to look for if uni's are flogged out yet??

you just cant trust dealerships anymore, they just tell u they found something just to keep u happy. I am a mechanic myself and they treat me like im a fu&^n idiot. have checked my spare tyre and it is firmly secured. in regards to checking the unis, you need to hold either side of the joint and rotate them in opposite directions back and forth and feel for movement. if you have a 4 post hoist, that would be best because the uni will be at its normal operating angle. if you use a 2 post hoist the uni angle will increase due the suspension drop

Yeah I'm sure they think I'm a moron. What is the best thing to do if it has play in it?

go to ford and tell them it's farked and demand the replace it or get a 3rd party involved?

Wow what a sad topic to read, I picked up my FG XR6T Ute 3days ago, love it to death so far but keep reading topics on this rear end problems on the ute, keep hoping this is not going to happen to me, but more I read the more ppl are getting problems.

Kinda makes me feel like I have made a huge mistake swapping from a VY SS with not 1 thing gone wrong over the last 5 years,

Well hope Ford wake up and fix these things in a hurry.

There was talk about them fitting the BF shafts etc. on the assembly line now, so if you’ve got a recent build you might be right.

I want to lower my ute but this whole rear end BS is stopping me for the time being. Not had to much luck with the car so far so sods law says a few hours after a visit to mr suspension shop the rear will sh*t itself.

I would prob go to the dealer first and tell them, but you have to ram it into their skulls to check it. I had my ute up on the hoist at work and saw that the diff bushes were starting to perish, so I told ford and they came back and said they have tightened up all the suspension to rectify the noise and I was like WTF u idiots!!

I'm going to have to threatn them wih my bat, cause I've already asked them to have a look and they said it was just the spare wheel? WTF. I'm no expert but I'm not that stupid.

On friday it's going to ford for the 5th time to have the leather base of the drivers seat fixed. I'm not sure if they can be trusted with the driveline. They can't even organise an upholsterer to fix the effin seat :stirthepot:
