My T was only 9 months old when I purchased it...sure it has dropped in value which sucks but that's the price you pay for having a near new car that hasn't been thrashed and is in pristine condish....for me it was worth paying more as you can keep the car in top shape rather than having a car that's gone thru 3 or 4 ppl and not really no its true history...

I think cars like Evo's and WRX hold their value better then Fords when they're 4 or 5 years old. And they were still around the $50k mark brand new.

Is that only the case if you purchase the car through a novated lease. A friend told me that a novated lease is only worthwhile if you do lots of km's and are in the high income bracket. We do lots of km's but my partner (who will be buying the car) isn't in that bracket just yet, so should we give novated leasing a miss then?

Other factors like P plater turbo bans probably have impacted resale. I noticed significant drops in the 200sx market when they came in for nsw. Depreciation sucks on these but after they get to 20odd thousand it should slow down. But depreciation is the reason I could get a good condition 2 year old BF2 so I cant complain too much!

It is a double edged sword isn't it? I mean I wouldn't be able to afford an FG XR6T if it wasn't for depreciation, so maybe I shouldn't complain so much!

I bought my BF2 XR6T, just over 2 years old for $18500. It was 48k new fully loaded with all options at Ford employee discount. The guy had payed out $36100 on the lease 2 days before I picked it up :S

My BA Mk2 Typhoon was $59k new + $16k in mods and is just under 4 years old. It's not worth even half of that now!!

At least that bug won't hit me! I don't think anyway! Will be spending all my hard earned on my motorbike! I might just get an exhaust and tune on it at some point, just to have a nicer note...haven't really heard what a stock one sounds like actually...let along one with an aftermarket exhaust.

how realistic are those prices anyway though?

I mean you'd be lucky to pick up a decent one at those prices.

10K lost in just the first year, value halves in 3 years. :crybaby:

Can't say I didn't expect it.

* I've compiled the figures taken from redbook, taking the latest version from each year. For the new price, I estimated 43K-48K from posts in the driveaway price thread.
