One clarification. He has NOT been sacked. He has stood down with no pay.

There are 2 things that bother me:

- The poll here shows about 25% saying sack him, and 65% saying he's done nothing wrong. At the SMH poll, 56% say sack him, 28% say leave him alone and 15% are somewhere in between. The contrast in the site's constituents are staggering.

- I've been watching the Footy Show. The 'discussion' was very obviously aimied at deflecting everything away from Matty Johns. I admire Gus Gould a lot; he's a very smart guy. But he, Voss and the journalist (didn't catch her name) were pathetic. The entire show has only resulted in adding more questions. Just one example. The journalist mentioned that she was sure that the amount of drug use and group sex had decreased a lot. OK, so that means she was aware of many of these types of incidents. Why didn't she report them? How bad was/is it ?

The fact that this is being discussed to this level should tell people something. It smells like there are a LOT of people that are very scared of the things they may have done.

Side note, as a male, I would have got no where near as many errr lovings if there were not woman around like this. The only newsworthy aspsect has been the destruction of MJ not the truth or any real concern for societys morals. 7 years ago it would have been lukcy to have rated a mention.

When you watch the four corners program that started it all, it's more about the overall culture and this is just one of the issues raised. When you see some of the slappers that hang around the pubs where footy players are known to hang out you can appreciate why the players assumed she was up for an orgie.

One of the pubs they showed on the program was the Normamby in Brisbane, spend a sunday arvo there and you can see there's no shortage of feral sluts. So whilst not excusing their behaviour any decent person can understand the scenario.

The program also touches on the clubs looking for players that are risk takers - they need people with gladiator mentality to get out there each week and go nuts. The clubs foster and encourage this, without it they can't win games. What they can't manage is getting the players to walk off the field and return to being a normal human being.

So as far as I'm concerned the issue is bigger than one person. Matty Johns is the fall guy for not only this specific incident, but every single incident that has come before it. If the other parties involved were man enough they'd be putting their hands up to share the blame, and perhaps even set the record straight.

As far as the group thing goes, he wasn't involved. By the woman's own admission, she was inviting the players into the room, saying things like, "You're next", "Not you, him again" (pointing to MJ, who declined and left the room), and "You can't come in here unless you're naked".

By all accounts, she sounds like she was a league groupie mole, who now regrets what she did. She also has seen the current problems the league is having as a money making opportunity. She may not have been paid by 4 corners, but it's a good advert for her to be paid for future media deals.

I agree. She sounds like the biggest hole out. I'm sure she would have had sex with a whole lot more in the past 7 years. Depressed because she allowed the wrong attention towards herself she had no moral's or self respect.
