You cant compare the polls, the SMH one has close to 4000 votes against a measly 66 votes here....

Actually, the size of the polls is irrelevant. What is actually important is whether they are a random sample. I would say in both cases they are not.

Let me put it this way; the people who could be bothered to push a button at the SMH site, as compared to those that could be bothered to push a button at this site have very different opinions.

If there was going to be charges laid in this matter, they would have been laid 7 years ago. I read somewhere that the NZ police officer who was working the case said it was fully investigated and that they found no evidence that any crime had been committed, further he said that he had been speaking to the girl in the weeks prior to this coming out and that she had given no new evidence and that as far as the NZ police are concerned the case will remain closed and won't be reopened.

I can understand why Channel 9 has stood him down, at the moment I don't think he would be in any fit state to face the media as they're still in a feeding frenzy over the story. I think it would be wrong if they were to sack him over the matter as it happened seven years ago before he started working for them, and as I mentioned above the police have found no crime committed.

While I don't think he did the right thing by having "group" sex with this girl while he was married, the matter is between him and his wife and they sorted it out back when it first happened and that's where it should have been left.

Finally as to who should shoulder the blame in the situation, I believe Matty has accepted his part, but the girl also needs to take some responsibility for the consequences of her actions. I can also understand why the others aren't coming forward especially if they now have families because they are the biggest victim in this whole thing, not Matty or the girl but Matty's family and the families of anyone else who was involved and ends up being named who now have to deal with all the public attention this has generated.
