Hi guys, I went through some previous topics and could not find an answer to my problem.

I've recently done some more mods and now struggling with traction. I have 337 rwkw and stock 17 rims with stock dunlop's sports.

What do you think would be the best tyre and size? Any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated.

Im running Falken RT615 in 245/45/17... needs some heat in them and they grip fairly well... Can be had for $250 a tyre...

Have also been in a car with Federal 595R's in 255/40/17 and they seemed to grip well too...

Ultimate would probably be toyo R888's..... but much more expensive

most tyres won't handle this kind of power, the best bet is to go with a semi slick. Fedreals get a great write up on semi slicks.

but beware that as long as your wheels are spinning all that torque isn't ripping your

diff, clutch and gearbox to bits.

Sounds like a weapon dude.

Toyo PROXES 4's will hold up quite well. I had those with 330rwkw and they were fantastic, however I'd get the Toyo T1Rs if you can spend a little more, they hook up 2nd gear with over 360rwkw. If you go to Tyre Power you can get them for around $320 and $350 respectively because they're a major supplier for Toyo. Anywhere else you'll pay over $500 a corner!

Thanks guys, has anyone had Kumho KU36, I just found out that I can get them as wide as 285/40/17 for $275 a corner + installation, or 275/40/17 for $250, but not sure how good these Kumho's are.

Wow, did the tyre place say it's okay to fit a tyre that wide on an 8" rim? I'm running 255 Nankangs, but need more grip. 275's would be nice.

my car has similar power though it is an auto.

I cant justify spending big $$$ on good rear tyres if your only going to burn them up in under a year, I drive my beast everyday to and from work. yes, when I nail it I cop wheelspin, lots of it and it doesnt stop till I back off. this doesnt happen every day, as ive learnt that this is rather bad for my 4spd.

I use nexen n3000, 235/45/zr17 tyres ( still have stock rims), they hook up better than dunlops on the street and are pretty well priced at around the $160 a tyre mark.

unless your car is a weekend type of car, then I would try out a few different types of tyres and find what works well on your car and budget.
