I got custom plates on my car.

But it works out the same cost each year as before I was 25 to register my car (ie - the saving from the cheaper green slips, is now what I pay extra for my plate.)

One of them was ITWERX (IT WORKER) selling for like $45,000. Yes that's right for the price of an auto XR6T! (roughly). Just crazy...

do you mean "IT WORKS" :fluffy:

as for the price...you gotta be kidding

Hi Guys & Gals,

I can see both sides but please be fair and I may not make some friends here, but what is wrong with people making money. There is no law against this act?

Consider this, people by heaps of things every minue to profit from such as houses, antiquities etc and sell for profit as well, but that is OK but not number plates. The NSW plate "8" if I remember was sold for over 250,000.00 last year.

Anyway, that's my thought and I think it is OK.

I got the once off price (XX 0000) I wanted XR 240, NSW plate but someone beat me to it. Then a few days ago I looked at the pictures of the demo Turbo's the site sponsor City Ford had - a Mercury Silver Turbo with the plates XR 240!!!!

This is the first time I have bothered with any form of personalised plate.

Yes In NSW you pay a fee of around $352 or $452 a year. Cant remember exactly. But they consider it a licensing fee.

You have to be kidding me!!

You guys/gals in NSW get screwed!!

Custom plates here in VIC start from $130 ish for something like XX-0000

Up to about $400 for XXX three letter combinations. These are a once-off fee as well!!

(eg's of these plates could be XR-4000, AXR-240, XR-240, and XRH-00N)

For custom plates the fee is $378 a year.

LOL!!!!

Mal, did you know that there are people buying and selling houses with no intention of living in them! who would think of such a thing!

or people selling low ICQ numbers for lots of dollars?

if someone will pay for something, then best of luck to the person selling.

Heres a nice story from a mate of mine:

> In 1995 (maybe 1996?) I heard that they were going to

> release a "Porsche Boxster" in Australia within 12 months.

> With the six character system (RTA NSW), the best I could come up

> with was "BOXSTA" and "BOXSTR". Both plates were ordered. One set

> ended up on my clapped-out Toyota Paseo and the other set on my

> brother's VP Commodore.

>

> Well, for 18months we drove around Newcastle with those plates on -

> people taking the piss along the way. It was all a bit of a laugh.

> Paying that first 12mth renewal was a real test of his faith in my

> 'investment'.

>

> But then the Boxster was released in Oz. I placed one small

> advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald and wrote a short letter to

> the five(?) NSW dealers that were operating at the time, inviting

> them to make an offer on the plates.

>

> After 2 weeks of bidding by interested parties, the plates were sold

> to a private buyer in Sydney for $22,500. This more than covered the

> two years of registration expenses, advertising and embarassment I'd

> incurred ;-)

now some people may think, what a bastard? but these are also probly the people wholl never get anywhere in life.. I personally think, well done, and what new models are coming out next :P

If by screwing the people around you, just to make a quick buck, is the best way to make some money maybe it would be best for those people to take themselves into a room full of mirrors, flop it out, slap it with a cold spoon and take a long hard look at themselves... because they are a joke!
