I looked the other night for a number plate for my XR6T, and did find a combination that suited me, however most were taken... And I'd have a guess and say that you'll find them advertised in places like this website and the TradingPost..... I feel strongly about stopping people profiteering this way... If they are collected, and sold for the cost price fair enough, but it's simply wrong IMO, to buy them just to sell them!

But the fact is.. 99% of these people dont sell them and are stuck with the plate. I for one wouldnt be paying more then cost price for a plate like XR6T or the like. I can understand if you had bought the plate and realised that you can't afford to pay the renewal every year, but to just make money off them is a no no. Im happy with my current plates.. my initials and year of birth. So to the people making money or trying to profiteer from selling plates.. :flippingfinger: Good Luck in selling them..

Here in VIC they cost $310, then standard rego fees after that....I believe that in NSW and other states there is an additional yearly fee to keep them each year. Anyone care to eloborate? Cant remember exactly. But they consider it a licensing fee. The RTA looks like they have redesigned their website too pretty nice.
Guest SA Tickford Guests Posted 10/01/03 02:09 AM Share Posted 10/01/03 02:09 AM In SA it depends on what kind of plate you get, the plates I got BARRA 6, were a once of fee of a couple of hundred dollars.
Mals BA XR6T Member 381 Member For: 22y 1m 4d Location: Sydney Posted 10/01/03 04:02 AM Author Share Posted 10/01/03 04:02 AM If you go to the RTA site (NSW) you are able to do an online search for a custom plate, which makes it very easy to just buy a whole heap then start selling them straight away! Disgraceful IMO!

XXX-000, XX-0000, XXX-00X) for a once of fee for $180.I think I'll go down that path.In last weeks trading post I saw plates for sale, some ok some crap and others I just couldnt work out. One of them was ITWERX (IT WORKER) selling for like $45,000. Yes that's right for the price of an auto XR6T! (roughly). Just crazy...

Sadly, XR666 was already taken.
