Flashtune Problem

Hey all,

Loving the power upgrades after custom tune and injectors. I went to install the factory tune this afternoon so the missus could take the T for a drive. My first time actually using the flash box, I followed the instructions and installed the "F" or factory tune. When installation was complete I started the car and it idled really rough barely running. Even pressing the accelerator did nothing. I reinstalled the "Performance" tune and running perfect again. Has anyone had this issue before?

It would appear there is a faulty factory tune on my flashbox.

Does anyone know the best way to fix?

Ah, thanks rattler. I was not aware of that. I guess if it ever goes back to Ford then I will need to be sure that they do not touch the ECU as per the instruction book.

Your sig says you have injectors, if this is the case the car will not run on the factory tune

This is not true, however if you have 60lb injectors I can see the problems with idle etc.

I was running around with Eugene injectors (39lb?) for a month or so with the factory tune and although smelling semi rich it idled fine and ran no problems, I only did this because of my fuel pump hose problem until it was replaced.

Get C&V to put a baby tune in it for the missus which I thought it would have anyway if it has 3 tune slots?

cv usually supply a valet tune give her that one , it wont rev past 4g that should keep her outa trouble

and 39lb is nearly factory inj so it probably would run , but you won't get far with 60's in there

39 lb is close enough to factory size that the car will probably start and once it goes into closed loop the ecu will almost get it back to stoich, but if running too rich it may destroy the cat fairly quickly.

If your fuel pump hose was leaking in the tank, your pressure may have been down so your injectors would not be supplying the correct amount of fuel, which may also explained how you got away with it.

Yep your right on the money there ratter as far as the hose goes and pressure but still seemed to run ok after I put proper submersible hose in place.

One question though, I am currently running just over 330rwks with these injectors and was wondering if anyone can tell me how close to maxing out or a guess at what percent duty cycle these would be running at full boost/rpm?

only other fuel mod is a walbro intank pump too.

Depending on your tuners dyno, he may have the duty cycle figures logged and can let you know, but I would think at that power level, depending on how rich it is etc, they would be getting close to maxed out

Boost initially is 15psi tapering to flat 14psi by 3500rpm. Need to go and see the tuner one day anyway as I hate the high idle on warm up and also the standard idle is to high for my liking otherwise everything else is sweet with good fuel enconomy and plenty of fun!
