Posted 28/08/03 01:30 AM Share Posted 28/08/03 01:30 AM As our esteemed moderator (Osama Bin GADAN) :D requested in the Fog Light Thread (get back on thread!)........Yessah boss!!I though it might be fun to recall some humerous incidents with the 'Highway Guys'. Please, no winging and b**ching, think of the adage, "Can't do the time.....Don't do the crime" when thinking of reply.Should give our 'Plod' members a chuckle too I have had a couple of run-ins in my time but the most memorable was years ago in Washington State where we were barrelling down this free-way when we see a highway patrol car speed out from behind a billboard (true.....just like in the Flintstones), anyhow, Al (after hitting the anchors) thinks "No Worries!, he's occupied", and immediately speeds up again, with a smug look on my face I fly past the cop and his 'nab'.Next thing........Whooooo......Whooooo in the rear vision mirror, the sneaky B@stards!, they run in pairs!!!!!...............DUN!!! If you look hard you can see the first guy behind us!Anyhow a picture paints a thousand words:

dankman Member 270 Member For: 21y 3m 19d Location: zadank village Canberra Posted 28/08/03 05:39 AM Share Posted 28/08/03 05:39 AM Hmmmm I've had 2 major encounters in my time. One was when I was not quite 18. Heading down Bourke street, in my old 3 cyl 786cc Suziki hatch back (it had balls let me tell you was an excelent first car). Got to a set of lights and when I went to take off the patrol officer hit me with his lights. My natural reaction was to switch off the lights, keys out, jump out of the car and lock it. Met the guy at his door. "Areyou in a hurry sir?" "No not that I know of, just picking up my little brother from his mates place" "Did you know you were doing 72?"I was genuinely dumfounded as the digital speedo only said 62 down the street. Long and the short of it I bought some new tyres, all they had in stock were higher profile than the ones I origionally had. The dude at the store told me it'd only be a k or two out. I eventually found at 110 I was actually doing 125.The officer was very polite and told me to get to the speedo service place here in town or he'd book me. I got off Second incident, I lost my license for drink driving. .080 on the scale on the bag and at the station.Worst part was I wasnt driving. Me and a few friends of mine jumped in the car. The driver (who was sober) stalled it right in front of the patrol car with the heavy clutch on my car.Not a problem when they pulled us over I thought, till my mate got booked for not having 'L' Plates on the car. They then bagged me because I was in the front passenger seat :(Fortunately the Judge was very leaniant and I got a 3 months voluntary no driving whilst the court kept my licence, and no charge. Hardest 3 months, full time work, full time uni and all the other stuff I do from week to week.Oh well, no one drives my car anymore and if we're on our way home with someone and I'm the shotgun, I always check the drivers licence for myself, no moatter how much they insist they are licensed. harasn Used to work at the Ford Proving Ground! Lifetime Members 306 Member For: 21y 8m 14d Gender: Male Location: Geelong Posted 28/08/03 11:15 AM Share Posted 28/08/03 11:15 AM I've had a few run-ins with the law! 1st one was after I had gunned it to make it through the trafic lights before they went red so I went through on an orange light. The cops jumped in behind me and just followed me till I got to the main street of geelong and then hit the lights! How embarrassing as it was at night and there were people every where. Got let off with a warning2nd was late at night, after I had had a huge argument with the missus and flew of in the car in anger. Was flying down the back road to home which had a few round abouts on it, when I saw a car coming up to the intersection, I thought stuff them I'm not stopping so I sped up! Went through the round about and half way through there was water running over the road. arse end of the car went out realy sideways, I steered into it and kept going. 2 seconds later I notice the police van was the car I had raced through the round about to get infront of. He pulled me over and asked why I was speeding and the like. After they completed a license check they gave me back my license, let me off with a warning and as a parting comment, said "you did well to control that slide". I was amazed I got away with that one!3rd one was a good deed of mine. I used to service the police cars in geelong and one night while delivering pizzas I noticed a police car with a couple of tail lights not working. I flashed my head lights at him a few times and eventually he stopped. I jumped out and told him he had some tail lights out and that I'd better go. The copper wanted my license and address and the like and I'm like nah its cool gotta go! was very funny. someone pulling a police car over!all fun
cvanxr Member 502 Member For: 21y 11m 30d Location: Country NSW Posted 28/08/03 11:46 PM Share Posted 28/08/03 11:46 PM Had a few of run ins with the law over the years, here are a couple...1st Driving down a country highway towards Melbourne doing about 120+ in an old Mazda 323 that lets just say had not been roadworthy for a couple of years, yet continued to be registered. (Vic system back then was great) I went flying past an unmarked car and knew straight away I was done. Pulled straight over and waited for him to come over the hill, which he did lights flashing and looked suprised I was waiting for him. I got out of my car and went over to him to keep from getting too close to my trash bucket. Didn't work he saw my windscreen was crisscrossed with cracks. :( Once he got my licence he said 'don't I know your dad' (country towns). Got off the speeding :D , but had to go to the cop shop to show my new windscreen.2nd Travelling down the Hume near Glenrowen on my way to my wedding (a few days away) doing about 140km in a hire car. Got pulled over and once again had a great chat with the cop. Told him I was on my way to my wedding and after a bit he said he thought I was doing 130, but 127 seemed fair. Needless to say I took it and was happy. All in all over the years I have been fairly lucky and have had the pleasure of dealing with (most of the time) some good value boys & girls in blue
