I know some people will say why,but I am thinking of doing a rear mount turbo set up to my BF XR6 and would like to hear from any body that has done it or knows some one that has,the biggest part I am trying to get a better idea of is the supply and return of oil so not to have a problem blowing seals,I have fitted many Turbos over the years but I like the idea of the rear mount and its a bit different to the norm so any info would be great.

yes the why comes into it but lots of other cars have been turboed this way

if your goin to do it do twin exh system into a twin turbo set up , you could run an independant oil system for the turbo's ,which would also keep engine oil temps down

run a 3ltr sumptank and electric pump to feed turbo's and a large oil cooler with a thermo on it ,most of this stuff would fit behind the passenger rear wheel there's nothinjng in that space

Yea the Yanks have shown with the correct turbo selection lag is no different than a normal set up,the turbo runs much cooler, air to intake much cooler without an intercooler, engine bay stays cooler there are some about in Aust but most are on drag cars there was a BA XR6 done in Perth a few years back but I have not been able to find the owner of it as yet,I will be a bit fussy with the air filter set up compared to most who seem to just stick a pod on the end of the turbo and fully open to the elements,as my car is used every day as a family car it has to be a bit better thought out and for that reason I will be sticking with 1 turbo and only running about 6 to 8psi boost max.

A friend of a fiend has done this on a V6 camry and he has problems with oil supply so will need to go for a separate system. Lag is not too bad. But when car/exhaust is cold it doesn't boost up, something with the turbo preferring hot exhaust air so he'll wrap the entire exhaust in insulating tape. I haven't seen the car yet but it must sound funny.
