There's a couple of inherant design issues with the FG driveline, which were flagged at launch and sgined off at a level that basically acknowledged that every customer would complain :S

Thanks PD!

Anyway, now the awesome manufacturing people are working on fixes.

I'd be interested to know, anyone with an 8 get much noise? Most of the issues are around the 6.

Does this mean there will be a recall? I have the backlash when I let off I have a 6speed auto. And am starting to get some give in driveline, Say when I'm rolling in drive and then give it some throttle. I'm sure as sh*t it's the 2 piece tailshaft. But I'm wrong ford told me it was just the spare wheel? I've always had the backlash but the issue with the tailshaft is say 2000k's old. I now have 26000k's

You will get it. If you do not want it, buy an auto or do not buy the I6.

There is no fix and ther never will be, just the way the gearbox is designed, not crash hot in a six.

Hey PHANTMXR6,

what is a CSC?

I dont think it is the clutch noise because it tends to change with temperature, however with that said it could explain a bit of the clunk into gears (when driving). Any idea how to tell? mine is the opposite to a throwout bearing noise I.e. its noisy with my foot off the clutch and silent when I'm on the clutch.. Definitely only noisy when the input shaft is spinning.

Cheers

Clutch Slave Cylinder. The way you describe it is exactly when it happens. With your foot on the pedal the clutch is disengaged. When your foot is off the pedal the clutch is engaged.

Does this mean there will be a recall?

You'll get me into trouble with questions like that mate!

Let me be quite clear that I am most certainly not on here representing the Ford Motor Company in any way, shape or form, and any comments made by myself are my own opinion and not representative of Ford Motor Company. I do not know if there will be a recall, and I would certainly suggest the would not be one - there's no safety issue or major functionality problem, its simply an unusual noise, albeit a known issue.
