I wont be having the car for long. I'm here in Brisbane for attachment for 2 years and I'm left with just a year.

that said with the time constraint, the most I can do will be the normal mods. fuel pump, injectors, exhaust, air filter and a flash? is it the same for a xr6t?

how much gain will I see from that? enough to break the t5?

there are not alot of mk II in the market currently for me to choose from either.

Anything more than STOCK is more than enough to break it. If you want to mod the car go the 6sp. that way you're sure it will last. Otherwise be prepared to have the box let go on you, and then you're up for either a rebuild or conversion. It'll cost you less to get the 6sp and have the piece of mind than buy the 5sp and have it blow up in your face.

Also I service my car every 5k, personally I wouldn't go over 7.5k in between services, especially in modded cars.

Howsee

thanks guys.

I'm also reading the other thread talking about the t5 gearbox.

it seems like a time bomb! scary!

also, that would mean the resale value of the 5 speed would be very bad in say 2 years time? when all are starting to break down eh?

6 speed is the way to go yea.

gotta wait and see if any 6speed come along.

yeah don't waste your time or money with the 5sp, just go straight for the 6sp. there are a couple under 20g on carsales now.

just so you know mate I am running stock power and have done 150000k and like I said no real issues wit the t5 but if you have any inclination of modding dont even bother with the t5 it will definately go bang first time you dump the clutch
