I'm in st lucia but the car that I will be view will probably me in around Brisbane.

other than elite is there any shops that specialist in fords?

Guess it’s easier to go to someone who been looking at ford day in day out and will be able to spot the obvious at ease.

Hi guys

I am new here and this is my first post. I am in a similar situation as the OP, wanting an xr6T but can only afford a BA. Not really too interested in mods, as the insurance is already pricey enough with the stock car. I have heard bad things about the 4sp auto box breaking due to fluid from some other part leaking into it. Is this a common problem, and would it be reason to avoid 4sp completely?

If I cant afford a 6 speed should I just forget about trying to get an xr6t?

Thanks

A few have had issues with the heat exchanger in the radiator rupturing, and coolant getting in to the transmission oil and vice versa. If that's all that concerns you then all you need to do is whack a new radiator in it if it hasn't already been done.

Other than that the 4 speed auto is a fairly decent box at stock power levels.

Nothing I think.. certainly nothing as big as a timing belt. I don't think it ever gets any bigger than changing the spark plugs, apart from the usual stuff.

Oh and don't worry too much mate, I've got an 02 Turbo with 90k, and it's still pretty nice and tight. Much nicer to drive than our boggo XT BFII wagon at work! Just be a little careful - they are so much fun to drive you'll buy the first one you test drive! Well that's what I did, but I think, thus far, I got pretty lucky. Don't be afraid to shop around, there should be more than a few under 20k these days.

carsales link

I went down to view this car.

its a company's car not privately owned.

car didnt have car mats and I dont think it came with any extras.

doesnt seem to be very well taken care of interior wise. the bonnet release near the accelerator pedal is hanging loose.

center glove box doesnt fit tight.

and just filled with dust..

exterior seems alright with slight blemish.

all 4 rims with kerb rashes.

car is totally stock.

no log book to show as of now. she said there are some papers but she didnt bring it along.

also, during the test drive.. theres this clunky sound. I think its from the rear diff... not all the time.. when on load..

how much do you guys think its worth?

that's pleasing to hear.

can save some $ for more mods!

I've just been looking at carsales. I'm sure there are more places that I can shop?

The exhaust looks very weird on that car, like it's coming loose?

The 6 speed manual are a very good box, very strong.

Did you check the engine oil? If it's black and sludgy, it could be neglected engine wise the same as the interior. It would want to look nice and light brown..

The rear clunk could be diff related, or it could be the diff bush. if it's completely stock I'd assume the diff would be fine, and it's just some bushes causing the clunkiness. Mine does the same thing at low speeds in carparks and stuff. I need my diff bush replaced. Diff bush will cos you anywhere between $500 and $1000 depending on different places.

If it has premium sound, leather, etc, offer her $17 - 18k for it, if it has no other options like that, offer her $15 - 16k. never know your luck, you can always try. You'd be getting a bargain at that price.

didnt know the xr6t sits so low. cant see much of the under carriage without a jack..

nah, like I said. the car doesnt come with anything. no leather, no premium sound. not even a car mat!!

how much does a full xr6t car mat cost?
