I choose to modify my car because I can. It helps me enjoy the driving experience more, and allows me to personalise the mass produced product.

I can accelerate and brake enthusiastically without breaking the road rules...it isn't hard at all, but requires a degree of reasonable judgement as to when it should be done. This same judgement should be applied whether you're driving a stockie or a highly modified vehicle. Either way, any car has the potential for carnage if reasonable judgement is not applied.

If others don't want to modify their cars that's fine, it just dissappoints when they whinge about those that do, and make negative generalisations based on a number of flawed assumptions.

It's partly about freedom of choice. We should have the ability to choose, without adversely impacting the ability of others to choose. This is sometimes a difficult balance but one we need to be aware of......enough of the philsophicals!

I agree with turbomax and hocuschrist we have freedom of choose in australia and this is our choose.

Velvetglove does this mean if it had more than 240kw standard you would not buy one I think not but this is your choose and this your freedom to do so.

I choose to go back to chiptorque tuesday to have more power work done.

At the moment the Duke is going everywhere slower than the XR!

My wife is learning to ride on her 250 Yamaharley thingo so we are doing 80 or there abouts. I didn't know the Duke could be so economical. Or life could be so dull.

I wont be modding mine for power, as at the end of the day it is a work vehicle, and fuel consumption is taxing enough as is around the city. Warranty is very important for me, as without the car I cant do my business.

However, unless Ford pull their finger out very shortly regarding the brake issue, there will be a full set of dba discs going in. It isnt the fact that I drive it hard, but I regularly need to pull the car up going down a large freeway hill into Wollongong (as the trucks pull in to your lane) and the standard crap just doesnt cut it in such a heavy car. I cant do a single stop without the shudder re-appearing.

I know where your coming from there Trumpy,I didn't have the dreaded shudder at all until I went down Mt Ousley Now it's getting constant every time they heat up

What I dont understand is why more people dont go for the factory premium brake option. You get that and your brake problems are solved - its prety good value. Same goes for Leather seats - get thoes from the start as you cant add it easily later. The stereo, 18's ect they can be added as aftermarket parts down the track - and besides 17inch tyres are a fair bit cheaper at the moment.

As for moding the XR6T - why wouldnt you - People pay $100K for a HSV GTS300 and double that for a E55 or M5 - What if you could make your XR6T have similar performance? - well you can
