Already hav modified the engine with Nizpro's xr465 kit! The 465 stands for 465hp!!!!!! Also upgraded to Harrop 6 piston brakes with 355mm rotors at the front and Harrop 4 piston brakes with 355mm rotors at the rear! These mods hav transformed this car and its just so much more fun to drive.

Nizpro's kit is awesome and is very well thought out .....

Look forward to hearing about what others have done so far ;)

For me I am going to sit back and enjoy the show. There are alot of kits out there for increasing the performance of the XR, but will keep an eye out to see what people have come up with. Also hopefully by then I can have some funds to do mods and maybe warranty period may be up. Just can't afford to lose warranty.

Why would u want to mod ? You void the warranty and the point re the brakes is a good one. You aren't racing the thing and if the braking is a drama it could be driver problems, not the brakes.

When you try and re-sell it people will turn and walk away when the mods are explained, as they wont trust them and I'll use the Hyundai analogy.

A chipped up, spoiler and exhaust fitted, booming stereo Hyundai Excel is still a Hyundai Excel and the re-sale value is still what Redbook says for a Hyundai Excel.

A lot of modding is a toss. If your car can push out 50KW more than mine then big deal, anywhere but the NT you still cant legally drive it faster than 110km/h. I'm leaving it stock standard as I'm looking for a car that has enough grunt to get me in/out of overtaking situations quickly, looks good, has good re-sale, and is comfortable for long trips.

Leave the big brake kits to Lowndes and people who actually know what hard driving is, and really need the brakes. Not people who just think they do.

Excuse my wet blanket, but there are enough cars out there now that are ruined by mods. We dont need anymore. I cant see any reason why someone needs anymore than 240KW

I agree with Velvet except for 2 points ... the only real reasons I would consider any mods:

1.) Better fuel economy without reduction in hp.

2.) Better exhaust sound.

Apart from that, I got what I paid for, what I was looking for and what I'm happy with.

I've been tossing up the idea about modding the car as well, I'm pretty much ready to go for some serious HP via a custom mods not these kits that are available, but when you sit back and think about it, it's not really worth the money spent.

The car goes well and handles well as is, brakes are another story though the DBA bendix combo I have on the car seems to be working very well.

I think I might wait and piss off the misses and go and buy a M3, that's more of a race car.

Soon as my Warranty is up, I.e. 3 years, I may think about it, but probably not, as that will be tradein time and I'll be buying the new FPV version, or a new Falcon GT. Modifying that? hell yes. Mainly in the weight reduction area. Personaly, I think the engine is capable of alot more than 290kw, I reckon I'll take a trip to DJR and see what they can do for me when I own it. I just don't know, if a warranty existed, then yes, I'd be in on it for sure.

Agreed Ken. Those are the sorts of mods that give you a tangible benefit other than just a (excuse my French) wank.

Increasing the power on a 240KW car ? Yeah sure, if your trying to get poll position at Bathurst that could be an issue. For streets where the max you can drive is 110 ? Sorry, I just think its a toss. If you want a street car that produces 290KW then buy one that's built with that in mind. Brake kits ? If you are driving the car 'hard' as people say, then you are driving it illegally or without consideration for others on the road. Whack 18inch wheels on the thing and the tyre profiles are so low you feel every bump in the road.

Enjoy it for what it is. Make mods or changes that are options (just shot myself in the foot with my brake argument didnt I ;) ) but dont turn them into something they aint.

umm, I object your honour!! :o

Bah!, Illegal. Do you think they put 240kw under it's guts for towing?

And like it or not, the car is a performance car. So modding it, is only adding to performance, to suit the individual user. And as for turning it into something it aint, well, I'm afraid it IS.

And for the record, driving out of town on a quiet road, where no bas*ard is, is not inconsiderate to other road users, however is illegal. I don't know if your a revenue raiser, and it matters not, let's not be personal, but I will say that people didn't buy these cars to sit in garages.

However,... I do respect your personal oppinion for what it is. But, telling people that their car wasn't designed for the purpose they mod it for is blasphemy.

You put a fox in a hen house, he'll eat the chickens, you put a person in a performance car, they'll make it perform.
