Ok so ive figured out I have an exhaust leak, thought 1 or 2 bolts were maybe loose. Pulled the heat shields of and 50% of that bastards are loose. So I tightend all that I can get to. Here is where my problem comes in. There are 4 bolts that holds the manifold to the back of the turbo (pretty sure that's what the parts r called) Now I can only get to 1 bolt with a spanner from above the motor. I can fell with my fingers that 2 are loose and 1 has completly fallen out.

What I would like to know is, is it possible to reach these from underneath the car? If not what has to come off to access and tighten them? Or do I have to take it to ford/mechanic to get these all tight again?

Also seeing as this has happend a few times, are there better bolts I can get that dont come loose as easy?

its tight mate, but easily done. keep tryin. u can replace the standard items with a seperate stud and nut setup. make sure the nuts are grippy ones with grooves on the back so they wont come loose.

can be done mitch,I got a 13mm ring spanner(from memory)and I heated it up and put a 45 degree bend in it,then you can tighten them up,also on one you use a long extension on a ratchet spanner and you will be able to reach it

  • Still have a turbo, it's just on a diesel.

A set of C-spanners and some automotive yoga should do the trick, a stubby 13mm combo spanner will help as well.

Dam that stud/nut is a pain in the... Ive got a few cut down, ground off, and bent up 13mm spanners for it... little fingers help too, of which I don't have lol

Anyone got any pics of their "modified" tools/spanners to get to the front lower nut/stud?

That is one of the easiest ones, you get in there with a ratchet and extension bar with a universal joint at the socket end. It's a breeze when you have those tools. You just slide it in under the turbo.

No matter what angle I hit it at, I just can't seem to get the socket onto the nut.

Gonna try next with the 150mm wobble bar extension in 3/8 drive once it arrives.
