Snip.

Cheers,

Christiaan

What year is your T? 2003.

What transmission is in your T? Four speed auto.

How many kilometers has it traveled? 117***

Who tuned the car to 8psi? Mercury Motorsport.

Have you done any mods to the car? Air intakes, filters, etc? Typhoon intake and pod.

Have you changed the fuel filter/spark plugs/changed fluids/serviced the car? Not personally, it's been serviced by Ford since new when we bought it. If you're talking about since the tune, then nope it hasnt been serviced.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would say that you have REALLY sh*te valve springs from the factory to be making only 208rwkw after a tune(I would guess that its a generic tune). my car made 213rwkw on the factory tune and 265rwkw on a 10psi generic tune.

if I was in you I would leave the fuel pump till later on, unless you have the coin, and upgrading your injectors along with your valve springs will leave you with a significantly greater power figure than 208rwkw, and the standard fuel pump SHOULD be able to keep up! but I could be wrong because every car is different...

is your beast a 4 or 6spd auto or a 5 or 6 spd manual????

4 spd auto. And it was a custom tune by Mercury.

Thanks for the advice guys.

twisty1,

Was it a custom tune or a generic tune? May I ask how much it cost to get the car tuned?

And did they use a flash box? If so, what kind?

Was a custom tune, cost me $400 'cause a friend works there.

And no flash box, they have a program called VGCM?(something like that) that can upload the tune straight to the computer.

Maybe I shoulda opted for the flash box?

Holy sh*t you're right. How could I not think of that.... it made 190 at 5 pound.

Hey mate,

I'm not sure on the legalities of the 'load up flash tune' without using a flash box, but it just sounds like they either haven't done your tune correctly, or for some reason your particular car has an under performing fuel pump and valve springs.

Being auto will also hurt your figure, but not as much as yours has..

I'd say your problem lies with the tuner... how long did they spend on the car? did they only increase boost and that's it? or did they custom tune the whole car?

your base figure is close to normal for an auto, but normally injectors are the first things to stop the power party and it is normally around 240 rwkw+ for an auto

They had it for nearly two whole days. They had it on the dyno the first day and had started tuning it but said they could get more power out of it if they kept it a bit longer.. which they did.

He did say that it was because my springs were really "soft" and that in order to get anymore power then what it made I would need to upgrade the springs and the pump. I'm thinking I might try a different tuning place after hearing some of your feedback though.

Definately doesnt sound right Twisty, I think you do need to speak to another tuner... I have a BA 4sp auto also and my power was limited only by injectors leaning out... even if yours has soft springs... I cant imagine them being that bad to only get that power!

Good luck mate, hope u get some answers.

Thanks for the info guys.

So my best bet is to probably go to a different workshop (I'm thinking RDP)? If I did, there's not much point in getting another tune done is there?

Would I be best to upgrade springs and injectors and then get it all retuned and see how I go?
