markdc Member 9 Member For: 15y 7m 1d Posted 28/04/09 08:23 AM Share Posted 28/04/09 08:23 AM Hi, im new here but have read almost all the posts in this section as I am buying my dads BA MkII xr6 off him in 8 months when his work lease finishes and am really excited might I add it will be my second car with my first being a telstar TX5 in which I learnt alot about installing car audio I want to begin by installing a premium ICC and then getting the piano black facia (hopefully)then I am hoping to install a dvd headunit in the tissue box holder space and run an amp and my speakers straight from the head bypassing the ICC, I know that this means I will lose my steering wheel controls but id rather lose that in favour of better quality audio, am I right is saying this is the case?the bit I am curious about is wether or not I will be able to output a video signal to the ICC so I can watch the dvd on the screen and the audio comes out of the head and through my stereo? has anyone tried this?also I was wondering how good the quality of the screen is for watching dvds? quadie Donating Members 720 Member For: 19y 24d Gender: Male Location: Muswellbrook,NSW Posted 29/04/09 07:25 AM Share Posted 29/04/09 07:25 AM yes u can have a good picture on the ICC with the audio from the DVD player to speakers .Yes the ICC is not that bad for watching dvds onthe ICC upgrade is costly to get/doa converter is used to change the signal into a format the ICC screen can displayI best converter I have found and used the the ASL one , it comes with a birghtness control and looks the better than the other cheaper ones around.if your planning on doing this id recommend u have a chat with ASL and see what they can do for youASL can mod your ICC to have RCA preouts and amp remote on that gives good quality and lets u keepit all nice and intergrated , so keeps the wheel controlsI would look at that if your upgrading the ICC and facia anyway (god this sounds like a plug for ASL, but there gear is good and worth the value) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I also asked them to run two sets of rca's in which I instaled my mono block and amp. they did a top job and couldnt recomend them any more!! quadie Donating Members 720 Member For: 19y 24d Gender: Male Location: Muswellbrook,NSW Posted 30/04/09 08:31 AM Share Posted 30/04/09 08:31 AM icc has an aux input u feed the RCA output from the DVD player too.with the ICC modded with the RCA output , the audio quality will be about the same the problem with the ICC stock is the Audio IC that drives the system is not of that great qualityby getting the RCAS fitted u by-pass this completly so sound is great !
