plenum3.jpg

As for recieving a complete kit with no headaches...here is a check list that I go through before sending out a plenum when purchased as part of a kit..all of the hoses are cut to the correct length.

1 x pressure sensor mount.

1 x 3/8 hose 1200mm long for brake booster

1 x 3/8 hose 550mm long for PCV return

1 x3/8 hose 1350mm long for rocker cover breather

1 x 3/8 hose 1300mm long for pressure sensor

1 x5/32 hose 650mm long for fuel pressure reg

1 x7/32 hose 1300mm long for BOV vacuum

1 x1in hose 960mm long for BOV

1 x1in hose 120mm long for BOV

1 x Pinch mould 600mm long

2 x large cable ties

1 x 3/8 straight barded hose joiner

2 x throttle body wiring harness

also when I used to b at the drags I cudnt go near the factory plenum as it was sooo frgn hot!! but I can absolutly smash the phoon around. pop the bonnet and the plenum is cold.

Funny you say that. The trip to the drags is about 2.5hrs for me & after my last trip I popped the bonnet & put the hand on the plenum & it was cool. Also consistancy has improved down the track. If I did 3 runs in a row previously it would slow by over .5 a sec but now I can do back to back runs to be within .1 - .2 of each other. Disperses heat pretty quickly as well. More runs = more chances of improving.

Plaz plenums are the hardest to fit. You need to extend the wiring yourself and drill holes in either the plenum bolt holes or the lower manifold holds...but not both. Connecting the hoses etc can be painful due to their location. You also need to source longer vacuum hose for the brake booster and fuel pressure regulator. Not sure if the Niz and PW kits have this included?

Chris AKA, Rapid Systems, if you made a wiring harness for the plaz and included relevant longer hoses then the plaz cooler would be a lot easier to fit for the novice. If the Plaz plenum holes were bigger so that studs and bolts could be used then this would make the install a peice of cake (using studs doesn't make it look quite as good though).

Checklist of additional items for the plaz plenum fitment:

- Extended vacuum hose for brake booster

- Extended silicon hose for the fuel pressure reg

- Silicon gasket sealant

- Something to block off extra hose fitting on the plenum if a bov is not used

- Wiring harness

- Bolt (6mm?) for the MAP sensor (my std bolt didn't fit)

- Optional (bigger holes on plenum + studs and nuts).

Thanks for the input mate, without customer feedback these things never evolve the way they could.

There is a wiring loom in the cards, but as we are all so flatout these new things keep getting pushed back... the wiring loom that comes with the plenum needs to be cut/spliced in.

The plenums are designed to use the stock studs down one side, and the supplied screw in stud/nuts along the other side, tigherened from under the car.

Its not a good idea to drill out the plenums threads and use the studs upside down, if that's what you meant... that would mean you have some nuts on the inside of the plenum?

If so imagaine the damage inside the motor if one came loose and sucked into the motor, but I'm sure you wouldnt have done that.

Here's a "How to fit" thread I did some time ago.

The angle from throttle location to first runners, just would like to know if would hurt flow to the front runners?

The base plate looks pretty thin from that angle as well, have you had any warping problems.

would the raised venturi's hurt flow or have you changed the design.

that's great you have one 9 sec car with your plenum, are there any Plazmaman cars running 9's?

just asking the questions here so don't get offended

Any chance of a shot entering the plenum from throttle body flange.

I know of somebody with 3 plenums at his disposal right now. He is willing to be an independent tester (non- biased, frankly I don't care what is better. I like them all.) and flow test all three at the time with results.

If everyone would like to provide funding to do this on a flow bench we will get it done and post the results.

Let me know.

This is your chance to shut this topic up once and for all.

Chris, to be more specific I mean thread studs into all holes in the factory lower plenum. The factory studs would not be used at all. However the holes in the plenum would need to be enlarged slightly so the studs can slip through. The nuts will then tighten down on the plenum from the top. This way the lower manifold remains as standard and all tightening nuts are easily accessible. As you could understand, nuts aren't attractive when in view though, like these are in this case LOL. Cheers bud.

Currently used on a 9.9 second stock bottom end BA.

end of thread.

Kev

End of thread how?

Having a stock bottom end doesnt give credit to the plenum...

Having aftermarket rods isnt going to give you more power, for all anyone knows a unopened ba motor could crack 8's for a single run then kablam!

what about G-techs 9.3??
