V8 Power

Guys,

I own a XR6 TURBO 5spd with 270 RWK.I am thinking of buying a new car, so I went and test driven three cars today. FG FPV GTP, new HSV GTS, FPV F6 all 6spd.I never driven a V8 car before, so this was my first time and really excited about 310KW+ power. But I was absolutely stunned by V8s.I felt like I am driving a 4cyl Tyota Camery or something. HSV GTS was a bit better then FPV GTP but I am wondering WHY do they still make V8s.After driving FG F6, I felt exactly same kick as my XR6T and all you need is a tune to take it 350+ RWKs and 1000NM torque. But these both V8s has to be supercharged, spending 15k+ and 20L/100 ks fuel.

So according to my experience, don’t even bother V8s if you are after good performance car with better fuel economy. FPV F6 and XR6T is the only answer.

I dont agree. V8s are more luxurious, more refined, offer seamless power and low down torque..

Turbo 6 is obviously quicker but its far from a great driving experience unless your only interested in erratic performance.. Turbo Lag and then neck snapping acceleration.

FG XR6T just breaks into a flurry of wheelspin as it comes on boost. Hardly a luxurious experience. V8 offers a more refined luxurious experience with reasonable acceleration..

v8 more refined is that what you call that feeling , I call it feeling like I'm towing a boat every where ya go

my mate has the 05 boss we have both spent around 5k and in every situation the T6 has it all over the boss ,only thing going for the boss is it will last a lot longer than the I6 , well in theory anyway it is a truck motor

I can't remember anything resembling what I'd consider lag on my XR6 Turbo. Well I haven't driven a V8 that was just as punchy from around 2000rpm anyway.

If your XR6 Turbo standardish ie below 280rwkw is erractically breaking into wheel spin you need better tyres. Power above 300rwkw regardless of whether its a NA V8 or Turbo is going to result in some amount of wheelspin when using WOT in lower gears on the road.

Hulk go look at the 80-120kmph times for a standard FG Xr6T in even 5th gear its quick then an SS in 3rd. So which one is making the seemless power & low down torque again. :roflmbo:

lol this guy posted the exact same post on Ford forums and got closed after 5 posts. He's just a sh*t stirrer.

Stock for stock we all know the Ts are faster, that's a no brainer. I guess it depends on what you want from your vehicle. Their two different cars and both have their pro's and con's.

Im a turbo lover, love evrything about them (except durability) and ill always find an excuse for a 6T over an 8 but as the old saying goes "Theres no replacement for displacement"
