I am looking to buy a new XR6 Turbo Ute in Auto, hopefully within the next fortnight.

I am unsure if I should buy an 09 Model off the floor or wait for a Potential update in May. If I recall the new FG Model came out in May 08. Does anybody know if an update is due in May 09?

I have talked to a couple of Dealers and they have gone out of there way to discourage me from Buying a Ford. Its a sad day when the salesman doesn't know his product and/or pricing. I am tempted to Buy an SS Ute but they don't have the towing capacity that I am after.

From the couple of dealers that I have talked to, they have offered a 7.5% discount off the price (ex Rego CTP and Stamp Duty) without any haggling. Has anybody got a better discount? What have people paid for there Turbo utes in the last couple of months.

As for Option Packs, do the Luxury or Sports Pack represent good value for money or is the base Model good enough???? The dealers informed me that if I choose these options I will have a 6-8 week wait. Is it worth the wait?

What kind of deal can you expect if you use a Car Broker? Any recommendations? I tried Discount New Cars dot com but they just forwarded my enquiry to my local dealer. It was not what I expected.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Just went thru the same dramas and have finally orderd a White auto with hard tonneau and spoiler, sports pac (18inc with ipod and bluetooth) saftey pac and 2300kg tow pac. $42,600 drive away 8 week wait. One Brisbane dealer had base turbo March plate $38,000 drive away. Best balls for heavy towing so I think it's worth the wait.

As of April 09 there's a change in the cat convert and calibration to acheive better economy figures... Not sure if it applies to the XR6T though.

Whether Luxury pack represents good value depends on whether you want the bling really. premium sound, leather, climate control, black carbon dash inserts, 19" wheels all adds up to a nicer look inside but doesn't affect the "go". Personally I like it as with some more sound deadening in the rear wall area it will be like a G6E ute...quite the sophisticated ute to tool around in.

Sports pack is a minimum IMHO or at least the tech pack is. Tech pack with ipod and blue tooth is only slightly more than the $300 the cops will bill you the first time they catch you on the mobile bragging to your mates about how good a ride you have.

In my experience the factory bluetooth is as good as you can expect...better than genuine Nokia for sure.

Price $43.7 inc ORC with lux/tech/prem paint, tint, scuffs, matts and bonnet protector (a bra would be better).

Is $39,900 driveway a good buy for a 03/09 XR6 Turbo Utility with Sports Pack, Auto, in White, Mats, 2300kg Towbar and Tint?

You're not in Brisbane are you? I had my fingers on a white one but it didn't have the tech pack so I ordered a white with sports pac, 2300kg tow pac, safety pac, hard tonneau with spoiler: $42,600 drive away so I reckon we both got a bargin! Is your tow pac a genuine Ford? Cause they wont give you gearbox warranty if it's not genuine.

Mine was $39000 drive-away, including remove tub, fit airbags that I supplied, Remove tray and towbar from trade-in and fit to new FG.

The FG XR6T has no extras other than the auto box.

Happy with the deal.

Still got a complete FG tub in octane to get of. Or make into a trailer
