rainy Member 181 Member For: 21y 11m 18d Location: central coast Posted 24/08/03 03:48 AM Share Posted 24/08/03 03:48 AM It seems to me that the pod style filters are the go as far as turbo's.however,to run just the pod under the bonnet is both illegal and detrimental to performance due to the fact it is sucking hot air.So my question is-why couldnt you fit some type of sleeve to where the air LEAVES the airbox onto which a pod filter is attached.you then remove the panel style air filter,leaving you with a enclosed,cold air ducted pod style set up :D Just wondering!!!! I have seen it done many times and if you watch magazines like ZOOM, they show heaps of cars using a pod filter in an airbox type thing! Go for it! plonky The Bionic Man - half man-half titanium Member 1,766 Member For: 22y 23d Location: Dodge Scat Pack Posted 24/08/03 08:39 AM Share Posted 24/08/03 08:39 AM I don't think it will fit for starters and secondly the offence is covered under the legislation by "render less effective noise control equipment"I would think that removal of the paper slab filter and replace it with a good K&N etc would maximise the flow characteristics of the standard airbox and snorkel.You would gain more by having bonnet vents to release the underbonnet heat, having premium plates so that the front bar area is less restricted for cooling purposes and fitting a water coolpray for the intercooler.Apart from forcing more oxygenated air into the engine by way of ducting smooth pipe from the airbox entry to the front bar it would be more important to lower the temperature of the incoming air to incerase the density of the charge.Forget the rampod filters! They are a a wank, too noisy and unless it is from a company that has built them to a specific design that includes a ram or pulse style effect you are wasting your money.
