ok today I went and bought the dba 4000 slotted rotors, they advised me to stay away from the drilled ones, because they do nothing but make the rotor look better and crack alot easier.

What pads should I go with? They told me to stay away from fedros and get something like the recommended bendix ones so they dont chew threw the rotor??

Nice to see some progress John.

Now there is going to be some different opinions with pads and what is good but I use Ferodo DS performance pads and as you can read in my first post can handle any street and track punishment I've thrown at them so far with no fade. I've had them on my previous BA and they worked great and got 40000k out of the pads and rotors. If you do get Ferodos make sure they are the DS series and not the normal ferodo formula pads, big difference.

There are some people around using bendix but my experience with the old bendix ultimates was very bad. Some others are using Green stuff or Red stuff which seem ok.

Just remember pads are very important to good brakes so don't skimp on the cost.

Im running the crossed drilled and slotted dba rotors, and have been for 80,000klms and they are fine with no cracks.

They help disapate they heat more, also Ive replaced the brake lines with braided hoses, they are more responsive cause they dont expand like the standard

rubber ones.

Also the standard brake lines should have been recalled because they split. I think you can get them replaced even out of warranty at ford for nothing.

You wouldnt want to be hammering it on the streets and have one of your front hoses split open, and only the back bracks to pull you up.

thanx for that f6rd now im scared lol. Ive gone with bendix, My mechanic told me that the ferdo ones rip apart your rotors, maybe ill try them next after the bendix. Is it really that important to go with the braided lines> how much will they cost?

No dramas, the ferodo might rip apart your rotors but that's because they have courser compound which will grab better.

Braided brake lines cost about $350, but if you can get ford to replace them for nothing id do that, if theres no cash flow.

if I keep the stockie callipers, get good new pads and dba 4000 rotors, will I stop a hell of a lot better? do I need all 4 rotors or just front 2?? OR what what should I get lol. without spending 2k.,

Mate you will not stop any better then with your standard setup. This is a common misconception with people, many seem to think they will stop quicker because they have bigger brakes. NO YOU WILL NOT. Brakes on most cars will stop you fine from almost any speed that car can achieve, but where big brakes come in to play is that if you need to pull up more than once they will be able to handle it while standard brakes (on the XR6T at least, and probably most other built to a tight budget cars) will overheat and sh*t themselves.

I don't know why but people seem to think that because they now have big brakes they will stop quicker. It's pretty obvious that your standard brakes have enough bite if you press them hard and you either block the wheel or the ABS is kicking in, ans most cars will be able to do it NO MATTER HOW MUCH POWER YOU RUN. But after a hard stop you better pull over and let them cool down because when hot they don't stop.

And mate if you thought you front wheel drive cars had front brakes only you need to educate yourself a bit more about cars before you go and spend you money modifying anything on your car.
