HSV did it years ago with the DTS Option and if I had been in the market I would have bought one. I reckon FPV should look at this as a dealer fit option could be done for 10k and would generate some interest I would think. Supercharged GTs straight from the factory sounds amazing! Im going to start saving now lol. But even if that bottom end was just 1 litre larger in capacity a 6.4 or 7.0 Boss would be a real competitor esp with the Quad Cams. The whole FPV package craps all over any of the HSV range. Having looked closely at both FPV and HSV when choosing my GT-E, they are worlds apart.Power is not everything when it comes to what car is best.I would not swap my BOSS for a LS3 unless there was a blower on it. A 'performance' company run by bean counters who are too scared to step up to the plate will never produce anything worthy of the mantel.... NZ Autocar did a comparison that had a GT doing 5.3 or so 0-100 while the R8 they had only managed 5.7 or so I think. As for the magazines, well who knows, they all seem to give odd reviews with odd performance times occasionally. I did think the Top Gear Aus comparison between the FG F6 and HSV R8 was crap though... the guy launched the F6 like he was a Granny out for a Sunday drive and then bitched about the start. The F6 still killed the R8 over the quarter mile but it was stupid, no one launches from flat idle in a drag! Remember the days when manufacturers needed to product 500 cars of that particular model to qualify. When drivers such as Brock sometimes sourced spare parts from the parking lot. These were the days that everyday people has real bragging rights about the cars that they drove.... It is this reason that the very cars are held in such high esteem, let alone value. The Australian touring cars of today, while exciting. Has lost its way. The heavily modified and engineered cars that run around the track today can hardly be called a Expensive Daewoo or a Ford. The only thing original is the outer shape and this is the real reason for the loss of the Aussie muscle car.Iam not saying that we scrap the touring cars. Maybe we should have a second Bathurst????? The real Bathurst... And just maybe it would stimuate cars sales and produce much needed job in engineering and automoblie production. Maybe then we could get some real performance cars... There is nothing like competition to bring out the best in companies....Just a thought....
