If you have the timing cover,timing chain and cams off you dont need to lock the crank as all the valves are closed. I have done a few sets and wouldnt reccommend anyone doing them at home without the right tools,especially after a few beers lol. They take alot of patience and care as the collets can fly out anywhere if you try and rush.

ok, I thought the compressed air idea would be used but my mechanic hadnt done a set on a falcon yet so didnt know if you could do the job in car, but suggested it most likely, just wante dot check :)

so what springs do people recomend? I get the idea the atomics are the way to go?

yeah atomic seem to be pretty good - people have had some trouble with the nizpro ones

I do all the work on my cars myself, but I was happy to fork out the $495 to get my Atomic springs fitted.

recently had this done -

paid $225 for the upgraded valve springs and $485 to fit them 5-6 hours work, head stays on.
